Since Sunday will most like be the end for both Ayala and Zanetti with the National Team, I'm already thinking about the future. Who does everyone think would be solid replacements for these two warriors?? Milito looks like he's earned a starting position in the back, but who would partner him for upcoming WC qualifiers?? Gonzalo Rodriguez maybe?? Micho Demichelis?? Cata Diaz?? And what about the right back position?? Will Ferrari ever earn a recall?? He's a great offensive minded defender, but his defending really isn't National Team material.

Garay, Fazio, Palleta, Diaz one of these guys will probably replace Ayala as for Zanetti either Zabaleta or Ferrari

I think the natural replacement for ayala is burdisso.
Nobody comes to mind regarding Zanetti's position, but i still think the guy can play at this level for a while yet.
He is one of the reasons we can have 3 en el fondo. (and still feel safe)
Maybe if the defense goes back to 4,other names could pop up,like colocini.

I like the Garay call, but he hasn't even played one game for the Senior Men's team. Maybe it's time to see what he can do once the Copa America comes to an end. I'm not too keen on Paletta though. Maybe it's because he sits on the bench at Liverpool. He needs to go out on loan and get some more playing time. Maybe back to Argentina where he'll play on a regular basis. I also like the Zabaleta call. I've liked what's he's done so far when he's worn the jersey for the National Team. I'm sure elciclon will agree with me on that one.:p

I gotta go with Zabaleta and Burdisso. But to be a NT regular, Burdisso needs to move away from Inter (sigh :() As much I hate to see argentines leave the nerazurri, I think a move away would really help both Nico and our NT. Or perhaps we could sell Materazzi (please :d)

Zabaleta/Ferrari--Burdisso/Gonzalo--Garay/Fazio--Insua

I think Argentina has sufficient depth for the future in all defensive positions except LB. Insua doesn't convince me enough but I can't think of anyone else.

Heinze is still young. There's also Krupoviesa, not world class yet, but a solid player. I know he's not a kid, but I think he is good enough to be trusted and he has room to improve, if he recovers well from his injury.

Oh I know but I'm talking about the future. Younger players. Argentina keeps producing amazing young players in practically all positions except LB. Maybe a young one not well known will show up soon.

True. I wonder, does Silvio Marzolini have a grandson?

this next generation will have better height than the current backline too.
besides fazio and banega, yacob seemed also promising to break into senior side. These guys will probably get more international experience from olympic too.

Clemente, Mareque by the way i thought Insua is doing pretty good! if he just plays a bit for liverpool he'd be even better hes too young he'll learn way more but his crosses and passes are awesome! he just needs to improve his covering

Clemente is too much of a defensive liability and he's not that young.

Bottinelli plays more CB.

Forgot about Pinola. He could be a prospect for the NT since he's not too old.

Bottinelli can play LB though. he's also played LM b4.

I know he can but still he doesn't convince me too much on the defensive end. I still have that 7-1 goleada on my mind.

Boca went down their left wing (san lorenzo's right) all day long, and after the 3rd goal it was done. Also,I thought the river game was uglier.

Garay is tall. Needs some caps.

We could put Milito on RB. Diaz could also reach the next level.
