About the NY Daily News Article... Is Pele senile? His understanding of the whole Beckham/MLS dynamic is way off base. Doesn't he realize that MLS has a foundation and doesn't he understand why the NASL failed?

I honestly don't think any of the old Cosmos gang "get it" in that regard. Actually, in a prior interview Pele made exactly that point, that the base for soccer is much stronger in the US than it was when he got here. I just think he sees the issue of central control as a completely different issue. I disagree with him (I believe that the latter has helped the former significantly, and I'm not sure all these stadiums get built without cost certainty) but I can kind of understand his opinion.
