Sure, it wasn't a Full International*, but I still got my USMNT fix from the MLS All-Star Game. So, what's next?

I must assume by now that the rumored USA-Brazil friendly at Giants Stadium died sometime in the past month.

August 21 seems to be a fixed date for friendlies, but it seems late for us to schedule any. So what, therefore, have we to look forward to as far as the USMNT? Anyone have any juicy new rumors, or at least recycled old rumors like the USA-Australia women's-men's doubleheader for November^?

* -- I like Jack Edwards' term. So there. It differentiates from "Youth International."

^ -- I saw that on an Australian site prior to the re-invention of BigSoccer.

I heard Scotland in October. But that's an old rumor from early July.

Canada? That'd be cool. Maybe it will be in Toronto, and we can actually get home field advantage AWAY from home! =)

I read somewhere, maybe on cnnsi in the article about re-signing Arena, that the U.S. has two dates set before the end of the year, but that was it for 2002. The article said nothing about what those dates were or where or who we were playing. Stupid article.

I thought we were playing Australia in a friendly this November. I think there was a thread on this prior to the big crash. Very brief mention of this here in the Aus - NZ match report (very bottom).

I thought that there was talk of a friendly in NYC against a world all star team to remember/raise money for 911

No matter who we play, the team will be comprised solely of MLS players. It will be interesting to see who our goalie would be as well as our defensive lineup. The only regular on the defensive line may be Eddie Pope and he may need a break for now. I think up front the team is strong no matter who they throw in to play.

I'm sure Berhalter will be available.

We should have a USMNT v. USWNT. That'd be fun, ha ha. :)

I thought this benefit match was going to be a World All Star Team against the World Cup winners (in case you didn't know, Brazil ended up winning the 2002 FIFAŽ World Cup).

The rumor of the Scotland game on September 8th actually turned out to be the womens team against Scotlands women.

Does anyone know anything about the US v Australia game.

I think that this could be a good match but I would be surtprised if it happens. I hope it does though.

No, there was chance that Scotland would play either the US or Canada.

"Two home matches have been scheduled for October 15 in Edinburgh against either the United States or Canada and as-yet-unconfirmed opponents on November 20."

They chose Canada.

The NJSEA also is looking to land the United States-Brazil match, which may be played Nov. 19, the next open date on the FIFA calendar.

"I've had discussions with the United States Soccer Federation and told them we want both games," Zoffinger said. "I would have liked to have the U.S.-Brazil game on Aug. 21, but we had the Roma-Real Madrid game on the agenda and wanted to do a good job with that. I think that game opened people's eyes, including the Manchester United people who were at the game. They were very impressed."

LOL, the men with a 10-0 (or worse) victory. Then maybe soccerbashers and eurosnobs alike would stop the crap "The US Women's team could beat the Men's team" comments.
