well I figured since most people are looking for a reasonable place to stay and in a decent part of town, but not list your recommendations.

Travel lodge@Kings Cross& Grays road. £75 a night.

crappy rooms. the place is a maze (all the rooms are numbered in the 200s even if they are on differen floors), the staff is rude.

can't make the globe. going to be in the burbs.

I know the majority of people on here are adults and might not be down with a hostel, but i stay at the same hostel every year when i go. Globetrotter Inn, it actually has an interactive website. Globetrotterinns.com and i think the place is wonderful. Cheap and very safe. Has a bar, gym, cinema, small convenient store, serves food after 5 at the bar(good food and a cheap price). Everything is keycard and the rooms have lockers for your stuff, can't beat it if you are on a budget. Its on the Southwest side of London, level 2 so you are not far from the action. Check it out.

And they have anywhere from 2 person rooms to 6 person rooms, and family rooms so it can accomodate anyone really

Never stayed there personally, but you can find a lot of reviews here (http://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Review-g186338-d195226-Reviews-London_Town_Hotel-London_England.html).

http://www.tripadvisor.com IS MUST READING for any hotel you are unfamiliar with. Great great site.

I'm using the ParkCity near Gloucester Road tube now as my base hotel. It's about £140-£160 a night. It is remarkably clean and suits me well. I used to use the Royal Garden Hotel in Hyde Park, but the price has gone up and it is now getting a bit worn from the last renovation (1999).

I've heard rave reviews about the Hoxton which is never more than £99, but I haven't been there myself.
