This 20 yr old central defender is a bet for the near future at Boca. In the next days the transaction should finalize for around US$1.5 for 50% of the transfer.
Luizao is a typical Brazilian defender of the last decade ... tall, with personality and with a good future.
He is presently playing in Canada for the Brazilian U-20 squad. Tbh ... I wasn't that impressed in the game against the US. He played in a back of 3 in that game ... something that wouldn't happen at Boca, at least in the short term.
The Brazilian market is a place where some of Argentina's clubs are starting to set an eye ... specially with the absurd amount of $$ that local teams are asking for their players. In recent times, Brazil has been producing tons of defenders that are bought by European clubs not only because of their physical nature, but also because of their EU passport easiness. Remember this was the main problem with Cata.
Will have more news soon.

brazilian young defenders are hot in european market too, and european teams usually pay more money. I don't see how argentine clubs can get their top prospects. Marcelo and David Luiz for example...
I'm sure Portuguese and Spanish clubs have been eying Luizao, david Braz, etc.

Well, Boca will get Luizao, along a medium term deal with FC Barcelona. Boca gets 50% of the player and keeps him for 3 to 4 semesters, after which the player will move where Barcelona decides, either to their club or on loan somewhere else. At the moment that Luizao stops playing at Boca, Boca would sell their 50% to Barza.
The exact details are not known yet ... but the total transfer should be around US$ 3 - 3.5 mill.

I thought he was going to Switzerland
At least that's what the Brazilian media says:

Locarno is a club that is used as a "pseudo-destination" ... there are so many players that belong to that club that they could win the Champions League. There is a group of player reps that use that club for protection.
But what it does is puts a more intricate web of ownership and paths for Luizao. When I find more info on this I'll let you know.

Luizao was going to join if Russo accepted, but since Silvestre stayed, he didn't want him.
The youngster Roncaglia has turned to be a great prospect as well. So for now Boca has: Morel, Silvestre, Maidana, Cahais and Roncaglia. More than enuff.
Sorry for not updating this a few days ago. ;)
The Boca-Barza joint deal is there to be used ... Macri confirmed it this afternoon, so the source stops being "well connected peeps" and is now as official as it gets. The first deal was going to be Luizao, but Boca didn't need a CD these days ... we'll see in the near future.
