Who's on tonight?
Because I'm not a fan of the "Live @ :45" segment when it's Russ talking about United and the other guys getting all glassy eyed.

I'm disappointed, period, in the Live at :45 hype. You are not "talking about what we want to hear" when you give 2-4 choices :)
I voted United, but I should be able to vote for that every day :)
By the way, all week on CSN, I have had to look at this poorly designed "Teet Me" graphic - thank Science that show/tournament is over !

I voted for DC United, because I don't want to listen to a bunch of people who know nothing about cycling make my teeth grind.
....and because I want more DC United coverage.
And you know what else? Team CSC is in first place!

Actually, Astana is in first place. The first place rider is on CSC.
So I voted for Cycling to stop the spread of misinformation.
Thx,
Jay!

I don't see how getting 3 people who don't know anything about cycling is going to stop any misinformation. I just foresee a couple of minutes ranting about cheating in cycling.
A vote for soccer yields Russ Thaler excitedly talking to empty seats for a few minutes.

I guess I don't understand how this is worse than people who don't know anything about soccer ranting for a couple of minutes.

It's not.
When soccer 'wins' this segment, it generally boils down to Russ Thaler trying to dumb things down for the other people in studio.
Basically, without knowledge of who the panel is, these two choices are fairly poor in that there may not be any information/entertainment involved.

I see.
Still, even if it's chat of the nature of "This is the soccer ball. It's round", I'd still rather have that than discussion of any other sport.
Perhaps except rugby union.

Perhaps except rugby union.
In which case the chat would be of the nature " This is a, uh, ball. It's a, er, shape."

That would be 'oblate spheroid' or something like that.
Edit: Check that. "Prolate spheroid"

Big topic, and it doesn't really belong here. Suffice it to say, Rugby League is a lot closer to American football in its rules.
I greatly prefer rugby union. If you get a chance, watch the Rugby World Cup this fall. (It's rugby union.) You might have to go to a bar to see a game, but you sometimes you have to sacrifice something on the altar of learning.
For a decent introduction to the differences, check out the Wikipedia article (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comparison_of_rugby_league_and_rugby_union)
