obviously, pre-game warmup has to involve team stretching (typically after a couple of group laps around our half of the field - i particularly like it when the laps are done in an organized manner with the team in 2 single file lines - mixing up forward and backward jogging, sideways, and even a crossover step to limber up - i think it looks classy when done together). the stretching in a tight circle is a good time to really start focusing mentally on the game and to come together as a group to get instructions from the coach and to share with each other goals for the game (things you're thinking about working on, players on the other team you're thinking about blowing past, encouragement for your teammates, etc)
then on to some basic passing between 2 and 3 players, and then some light jogging mixed in with the passes. pass. stand. short jog for the ball. receive pass. etc.
once loose, i like to do some harder running. a set of sprints across the width of the penalty area. maybe twice back and forth. nothing crazy or that leaves me or anyone else too winded, but also some serious running.
from here (as i'm a forward), i'd want to get in a few shots on the goal, but these are my main ones.

1. i dont eat much before the game, but a couple hours before i like pasta.
2. music - i like something kinda laid back, but still with energy. a good one is jimi hendrix - all along the watchtower. my teammates like rap, which is fine too.
3. first we jog a lap, then we do a series of cross field runs(high knees, heel flicks, side to side, up-downs, then sprint to middle of field). we then get in a circle and stretch while our coach talks. then we play a possesion game, while the keeper is being warmed up. then we shoot, and we're ready to go.

Our coach went to a seminar with the nutritionist of the US National team and she said you can eat whatever you want 4 hrs before a game so now i'll have my mom make my teamates and i pasta and we just drink water listen to music and chill before the game. Music is very important to us and is suprisingly important to our success it gets us in the right frame of mind. We listen to a lot of Jack Johnson, Red Hot Chili Peppers, DMB, and even the Goo Goo Dolls.

My Uni season is over so I'm playing for a pub team for the rest of the season!
1. We meet at 9.45 so all I get to have is a bowl of cereal
2. I have stuff on as I wake up - I'm into tons of stuff, mainly rock, metal, prog, etc. but driving to the game I just stick Radio 5 on. I believe I either had Faith No More or Tori Amos on yesterday morning ;)
3. We do nothing as a team but I try to do the usual running and stretching - focusing on any parts that are feeling tight. My ankle is giving me a lot of trouble so I focus on that a bit and make sure it is warmed up.

1. lunch
2. Hawthorne Heights, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Cash Money, Bob Marley, Prodigy, Rage.
3. Stretch. Run (forward, backwards, sideways) around our half of the feild and from one sideline to another. I play goalie I usually go take some practice shots and then screw around for the rest of the time while everyone else runs around and does drills.

I play under 14's in London and Essex, and my preparation is almost the same. I just have breakfast before the game, then we run and stretch as a team. Music will be whatever is on CAPITAL in the car before I get to the ground.

1. I usually just eat a bowl of cereal and a spot of OJ
2. I listen to Taking Back Sunday, The Necessary, Pink Floyd, Led Zepplin and sometimes Jay Z and Eminem
3. We usually take 2 laps around the field, stretch, and then we go on with our drills (crossing drills, corners, keepaway games, etc.). Then, since i'm a midfielder i take free kicks, corners, and shots outside the 18

1. Whatever is not greasy 24 hours within the kickoff of the game just cuz i get the shi** real easy from greasy food... then during warm up get a powerbar in me with tons of water...half a nalgene.
2. Music...personally i like anything that will fire me up...which is like rap and such for me...whatever your personal preference would be best
3. We warm up individually...do dynamic stretching...then we play small sided games and open it up to one big possession game...into a shooting game with 2 11v11 goals on either side of the penalty area...after this into the kits and on with the march, which is an intimidating warm up...as a unit in four lines we move from one side of touch to the other across the field jogging at first then moving into more technical movements that i can't explain because i have a limited vocabulary and mind power...you could say i'm like beckham in this regard...it is truly a thing of beauty to watch our team do it especially when we all move as one...

1. i usually eat a salad with my lunch on game days. i try not to eat for 3-4 hours before the game, and no pop on game days.
2. I listen to Juanes before my games. The Spanish just erases my mind, and I try to picture myself scoring the goal or nutmegging a defender or whatever. I also have to put on my shinguards and socks the sameway every time, tie my shoes the same way, etc.
3. I try to start my warmup with some easy 10 yard passes for a while. Then as a team, we stretch and do some jogging, form running, etc. We go through some easy shooting, passing, and dribbling drills. Then, if there's time, we play keepaway as a team to get some rhythm. For the last 5 minutes, everyone pdoes whatever they need to individually to get prepared.

This is for my indoor pre-game... most of my teammates are all away at uni so it's not very serious for some :p (just a local bar's team).
1. Usually eat 3 hours prior to game time. No fatty foods... anything healthy really.
2. My music really depends on my mood. I'll usually listen to some more laid back music on my own before I leave, but when i'm on my way i'll listen to something that'll pump me up... Maybe some AC/DC, possibly some hiphop... variety really. Lately it's been country. Ah yeah, i'm also really superstitious. If i'm listening to something and play a crappy game after, i'll never listen to that song on a game day again. Silly, I know. Oh well :D!
3. As I said above, it's not too serious. My warmup is probably the same as metropolis2k. Running, stretching, maybe juggling a bit.
Can't wait for the summer season!

1. I always try to eat a PowerBar. I make sure I'm very hydrated and well-fed (lol). If you're hungry when you step on the field, it's hard to focus; however, it's even harder if you're stuffed (specially full of alcohol lol).
2.ANything that pumps me up: Linkin Park (Meteora is like the best CD ever to come out) POD (Satellite, or Alive), Ruff Ryders are always good or even Immortal Technique.
3. Jogging and stretching as a team, posession, shooting, short sprints to get legs upto par just in case, and some very light jogging or passing just before kick-off.

Well let me tell you what i used to do when i played for my club team and then what i am doing now with my college team.
CLUB TEAM:
1. I used to eat whatever was for dinner like whenever i had the chance to.. that meant anywhere from 4 hours to 30 mins before a game
2.listen to some type of rap song.. mostly tupac.. gets me energized
3. mess around.. pass the ball in a circle not much warming up.
COLLEGE TEAM:
1.Eat a snickers about 1 1/2 hours before a game.
2. listen to tupac.
3.get off the bus and just start to run back and forth the width of the field just skipping.. it may seem a bit weird but just skip while swinging your arms really helps to get your blood flowing. then we will form two lines and jog around the field.. we will work up a sweat.. strech.. do a couple of sprints.. get a drink and just start to pass the ball and move into the open space.
I have certainly realized the difference between the two.. College is much more physical and you need to be streched out before a game no matter how agile you think you are.. i never had pulled a muscle or anything but i still feel it necessary to do this inorder to get warmed up. my playing has improved much by warming up this way. especially skipping back and forth.. you wont get tired at all and it will just work your whole body
