I did want to say that it was purely arbitrary and FIFA decided over the last few days. But, I'm sure people would miss the sarcasm.

Before the tourney began, they outlined the brackets. Last week, I had the 3rd place diagram for how the 4 3rd place team would be allocated.

I believe (not that I'm going to bother looking it up) that it's in article 26 and 27 on the fifa U20 tournement regs.

yes it was decided ahead of time. Each possible combination of top-4 third-placed sides yielded a different arrangement of round of 16 matches.

The table here (http://canadian-soccer.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=12927) under the knockout brackets shows what each combo of qualified 3rd-place teams would result in, ie. which third place team would face against A1, B1, C1 and D1 (E1 and F1 were seeded against group runners up, the other 4 of whom ended up against each, as per seeded).

I've never seen a portugeuse player not able to have a touch of the ball.

Yet nuno coelho, condesso, zequinha, and pele have been shameful and have no first touch letting the ball bounce away to chiles players.
