Only 14 games last season, 7 of those subbing... really a waste of his talents. Has he ever indicated that he wants out? Surely teams would be lining up to take him from the stacked Spurs team, hes easily a 1st team player on many other Premiership teams...

He did have a lot of injuries last year so that would, to some degree, explain his dearth of selections.

Do you think hes still got a 1st team spot there? Im a Celtic fan and their midfield is so clogged that they are sitting excellent players all the time. For a time, maybe even still, Thomas Gravesons one of the odd men out if you can believe it. Id hate to see that happen to Staltari, when Tottenham plays on Sportsnet Saturdays, I want to see him playing...

So do I and I was not saying that there is not a numbers issue at Spurs. What I was saying is that he would have more appearances, than the numbers you quoted, if he had not been injured. It wasn't quite as bad as those numbers make it out to be.

They signed Chimbonda even after Paul had a good year, he's very much second choice

I think they want him to be a super-sub, I think he can play each wing and maybe even centreback

Paul is a solid player and could start for the majority of the lower table teams, but Tottenham have higher ambitions and Chimbonda is just a better rightback then Paul. Actually with the purchase of Gareth Bale, Lee Young-Pyo could play RB if necessary and he is a lot better than Paul at going forward as well.

Chimbonda is a better right back than Paul but Lee certainly is not. Lee has been poor for the last couple of years and may transfer out. If Paul stays healthy this year he should start over Lee assuming both of them stay with Spurs.

Well Lee will start at LB for Spurs unless Martin Jol feels Bale is ready to start day in and day out in the EPL. As I said Lee is much better going forward then Paul as he use to play as a winger. If you had seen him with Korea and his days at PSV you would know he gave defenders fits, just ask Cafu. Defensively I agree Paul is better.

But if you see him at Spurs you know that he is not a Premiership level RB. The important thing is not how he played for PSV or Korea but how he plays for Spurs. He has had ample time and opportunity to show he can do the job and has not delivered.

You're kidding right?

I've gotta admit, I've rarely seen Stalteri play for Tottenham, but what I saw of him during the Gold Cup really made me question as to how much he has left in him. At best, he played incostitently and at worst, he was consistently mediocre. I know he probably is in better form during the Prem season but I'm just posting what I observed.
