I am a huge soccer/football fan. I was born here in America, but my ethnic background is Korean.

I'm just so curious as to why there is SOO much racism outside of the game? For example, I'm browsing through Korea highlight videos from the World Cups, and the comments people leave are crazy...this one German kid wrote "You Koreans peoples are so ugly, I can t look at yous. Learn to speak english? How dare you! Be 4ever in your ********ing country" First of all, none of what he said made much sense, and should probably be taken lightly...but seriously, does soccer stir up TAHT many racial issues? For god's sake, it is just a game... at the end of the day, one team wins, the other loses...and life goes on...granted, some games are more memorable than others...liek for me, Chelsea FC winning the FA cup on the old WEmbley and in the new Wembley is pretty memorable.

But still, why point out another races differences just because you didn't like how they played, or they were better than your team. Someone just answer this: What exactly is the main cause for racism?

I don't like Argentina's national team, but I'm not racist about it...i don't rant on about how argentina is a spanish country and go on to use mexican as an insult...that would be racism...but i just don't like the team in general

Football is a game for lower-class, uneducated people(both fans and players). In Latin America, you´ll find anti-Americanism, gangs, and drug cartels among the poor, and that plays out in the stadia. In Europe, you´ll find racism, skinheads, and organized crime among the poor, and that plays out in the stadia. In both places, all you need is a spark(re alcohol, which the poor consume in large cuantities in both areas) and it all comes pouring out, along with violence.

Soccer or football was invented so that a gang from village A could kick and punch at a gang from village B on the pretext of actually trying to score...And you know how those people in village B are! Sneaky ones that once fooled my grandfather on the sale of a donkey!!! :D

What I´m getting at is that soccer, rugby or football exists as an outlet for local patriotism and chauvinism apart from a chance to settle old scores. It´s what gives the game its "edge"...

In modern times we sometimes tend to forget that it´s not just a sport, it speaks to the caveman that dwells inside us..That´s why it´s the peoples game.

i think this applies to a small minority.

the video comments are mostly rubbish.

they're bullshit comments said by people taking advantage of the anonymity of the internet.

I was joking, partly. Football is a mostly lower-class game though.
