Check out his article on the state of U.S. soccer in espnmag.com. Here's the link. And you got to love a guy who gives a shout-out to bigsoccer.com

Yeah, but what's this with Jeff deriding some of our discussions on BigSoccer as "too-serious". Who does he think he is!! ;)

I've certainly had my share of differences with Mr Bradley in the past, but I think the comparison with baseball is dead on, as is has assessment of the future of soccer in the US.
As for his comments on US players having "one strike against them" I'd only argue that, IMO, it's more like two, borderline three.
But that's OK, really. Like we all tell the kids, respect is something you earn, and it comes hard. Winning a couple matches in the WC wasn't ever going to summon forth waves of Eurodollar-besotten agents waving contracts from the best clubs in the world.
We're still Americans, and this game is one of the few things they have over us. They sure as heck aren't anxious to give it over.
(In any case, South Korea went farther than we did, and as near as I can tell Korean players aren't suddenly all the rage in England, Italy or Spain.)
But the best example is Bruce Arena; in a sport which blows through managers like an eight year old going through his Halloween candy, anybody who shows the slightest sign of knowing where the technical area is gets a shot at running a side.
But Arena, having proved beyond a shadow of a doubt that he does in fact have a grasp of how to win games, is apparently doing what almost no one ever does: signing up for another shift at the helm of a National team.
Now I'm certain Mssrs. Rothenberg, Contiguglia et al are planning on making it well worth his while, but even from a few thousand miles away you got the definite impression that BA would have preferred another gig. Alas, nobody much came calling.
And it's not because they don't know that he can do the job; it's because he has that unfortunate American passport.
In any case, well done Mr Bradley, and welcome back.

I was wondering why I hadn't seen any mention of Bradley's homage to BS. I also thought it was a valid comparison, and one that I hadn't really thought of.
