Does anyone in the RFO actually watch MLS? I mean the SAME mascot? Maybe that's why they don't understand how sheet our team is!!!

I should add a couple things - after speaking with someone in the FO - the person pointed out that it was the same mascot as DC United and they still thought it was a good idea.
Edson the Eagle gets his name from Pele.

It's kind of a non-issue for me.
Did I hear that Edson was to be the first of four new mascots?

Edson will be one of four new mascots for the club, who will be unveiled periodically over the upcoming months. Each new mascot will be an animal naturally found in the Rocky Mountain Arsenal National Wildlife Refuge, which is adjacent to the Dick's Sporting Goods Park complex

What in {insert deity of choice here}'s name made you believe the RFO ever thinks?
I will give them credit for the idea of mascots that relate to the Wildlife Refuge, but I'll also point out that it's the Rocky Mountain ARSENAL Wildlife Refuge that we're getting our mascots from.
Name change in 5..4..3..
Bring back Rapidsman! :D

Can't now. They sent him on his way with a testimonial match during the half time break last night.

It's still a silly name for a mascot. I think I'd rather name my next kid Rapidman than Edson - he'd probably get beat up less.

Oh. Silly me. Thought the title of this thread suggested something related to the problems with the team on the field.
Who gives a flying eagle ******** about the mascot?

I had a hard time remembering Edson last night so his name to me is Edible the Eagle.

When your team sucks as bad as the Rapids, I guess you have to do something else to create interest.

Is Edson our DP? Will all of our new mascots be named after players who have never had anything to do with our team? This is another U11 move like naming our team after some people's favorite team, "Arsenal".
Since the Rockies are doing pretty well right now, should we rename the sport baseball?
Greenie, don't you think that the RFO being so out of touch that they copy the other team's names and mascots could be indicative of the whole problem? Personally, I think it is related. We need some creativity on and off the field.

Sweet, so now, instead of spending probably close to a combined 40k a year on developmental players, or international scouts, or youth programs, or anything soccer related, we're paying that to not 1, not 2, not 3 but 4 completely worthless decorative items.
I fully expect now this news item to be followed up with a 3 year extension to Clavijo's contract, Kyle being sold to Finland, Herc traded for Atiba Harris, the reacquisition of Leo Cullen and Jovan being named Captain for Life.
Rapids FO: If you want to hook young fans on the team, give them something worth remembering on the pitch. Otherwise, in 4 years or less the same crowd will realize how idiotic they were for liking a stuffed animal and give up on the shit you put out on the pitch. Get some long-term vision!

Tastes like chicken!
OK, I really like how the beak on Edson is so wide open and gaping. He was going around last night putting kids' heads inside of it. I enjoyed watching that.
Four mascots... I bet you will only see them one at a time.
What else roams the Arsenal lands? What will the other mascots be?
Do you think at the end of the year there will be a fan vote to choose one of the four to keep?

Or maybe all four mascots will be rip-offs of other teams' mascots. Is that Zard thing still around?

Just three more opportunities for the FO to make super-huge, mind-numbing, history-altering, all-to-drawn-out announcements this season...

Actually, I hope this is an endangered species at the reserve too:

Our soccer organization has become such a joke that's it's not even funny any longer. Hiring that thing and dressing it in burgundy pajamas would be the only thing left they could do that would be so idiotic and still make me laugh.
