quick question (since I don't want to bug Rick about it if I don't have to).

I posted my ticket request a while back:

Dear Rick,

I will be in London for my first chance at an Arsenal game from Dec. 14-16th and lucky me they are playing Chelsea that weekend at Emirates!

Username - Cesc Flabbergast (Arsenal America username: Arsenal.Frenchy)
Games - Chelsea at Emirates on December 15th, 2007
CL game - No thank you as I am only there for that 1 weekend :(
How many tickets you require - 2 tickets
Normal or Club Level - Normal would be great, but I would be willing to pay more if necessary since this will be my first game!

I have my flight booked already and am so grateful for this amazing opportunity you provide Gunner fans living in the US.

Thank you so much! Go Gunners!

---Firas
San Francisco Bay Area

and I just signed up for the Premium Membership and paid my $20 today, as did my homie (Arsenal America username: andypohl).

I just wanted to know if I needed to let Rick know his name (since I had only mentioned: "How many tickets you require - 2 tickets" in my post)

I want to make sure he knows that the 2 tickets I need are now paid premium members, so it should be all good... but obviously I don't want to PM or bother him in any way! (I haven't posted or PMed anything since my original ticket request)

Thanks for any advice!

Skizz,

I PMed you about this before noticing this thread. Sorry about that. I'll repost it here:

I'm looking at the ticket process, and i'm kind of unclear about how the flight deal works. Do you HAVE to purchase a flight before you're guaranteed tickets? As a college student, it's hard to get to London, and my only window is spurs home on the 22/23rd of December. Because it's spurs, it'll probably be hard to get tickets. As a poor college student, I'm kind of apprehensive spending 700+ dollars on a plane ticket when i'm not guaranteed anything. Is that the way it is, or does he ask for the plane info after i'm confirmed tickets?

Also, I might be able to fly in a day or two before scheduled so I can also see the carling cup quarter final if we make it. Is it usually pretty easy to get tickets for things like that?

Thanks for the help.

Quick question, this'll probably get asked a lot in the next few days... since the premium membership opened up today (I paid as soon as I saw it had opened) should we update our posts in the ticket request thread informing Rick that we have paid the premium memberships?

I wanna do whatever to make sure I don't lose my spot in the first come first serve line because a lot of people have been requesting lately.

Yeah, I have the same question here. I was able to sign up today and hopefully I'll get word about the tickets soon. I leave for Europe in 11 days.

In reguards to the ArseAm Prem membership.

DO NOT AND I REPEAT DO NOT go back to the original thread. At the time of your requests, the service not avaible.

If Rick has any questions about it, he will contact your or the people running the scheme to double check.

Don't want to sound like an ass, but I'm saying it this way as I have seen Rick on match day and he doesn't get to sit down until he is inside the stadium. So my advice, get there 3 hrs early and buy him loads of drinks.

Re-airline ticket: Do what I did and ask it to be a Christmas gift. :D In seriousness, start saving the money now and be prepared to buy a ticket.

Question about seeing the game in Liverpool. Not a ticket request yet but curious about getting to the game from London. Whats the best option? Can it be a day trip? Or should I plan on spending a night or two there? Is train the best way to get there?

Steve,

Depends on how much time you have. If you have time, I recommend the train as there is one main station(as opposed to two like London) which is right i the middle of town center and only about £6 in taxi fare to Anfield.

You might have to take a train to wigan northwest and then hope a smaller train to Liverpool(only about a 30 minute ride).

If it is the day of, flying might be the way to go.

Worst case, ask Rick if you can ride with him or volunteer to drive him.

Not sure if Aaron and Chris are leaving a few to me and had a little time.

If I take an overnighter that lands in London around 9am, its ample time to make it to a 3pm kickoff yeah? Of course including time to meet up with Rick and getting him a couple (dozen) beers. (Which, btw, Rick, hoping to contact you soon regarding tix!)

- K

Depends. If you fly from JFK you will be at least an hour late so 10am. Then an hour through customs and baggage so 11am. Then 2 hours to the ground without going to hotel makes it to my meet time of 1pm. Just. It is NOT ample time unfortunately. Do not underestimate your time. Certainly don't fly Air Zoom. They are always late.

Do NOT post again. I check memberships when I check payments for tickets.

I would prefer you to have paid for your flight ticket. But I understand if you can't. I will ask for flight details about 6 weeks out. If you can't provide them you will be blacklisted with the Club.

You will get word tonight or tomorrow. But you have tickets as you were in the first 10 for that ticket.

Cheers Rick! Yeah, I'll try to find an earlier arrival. As for flying Zoom, I must admit that I was initially intrigued by their "low" cost, but after reading some reviews, I'll pass. I'll probably go BA or VA. Thanks again.

BA is the way to go imo.

There are so many things that can go wrong on a Saturday morning 9:00 that you really need to follow Rick's wisdom on this one. Things I've encountered in my 60 odd flights to the UK over the last few years:

a) long lines at Immigration (stuck behind a plane from Nigeria)
b) 45 minutes for bags AFTER I got through immigration
c) getting stopped by Customs (only once)
d) Delays on the LHR Express
e) No LHR Express so bus service to the Tube
f) Walking to Term 2 from Term 4 to get the Tube
g) Long line at Paddington Cab Stand
h) Delays on Tubes from Paddington
i) Traffic to hotel from Paddington
j) Hotel room not ready
k) Hotel lines of people checking in or out
l) falling asleep for a short nap in hotel and not waking up
m) eating some lunch
o) Tube strike
p) delays on Tube to Arsenal
q) Missing train to Arsenal
r) Cannot find Rick at bar
s) Getting lost looking for Rick
t) Having to find ATM to get £s to pay Rick

So, with that said, if Rick says come straight to the stadium and leave your bags at the pub, please do so.

Dec. 22 is still in the higher price bracket, but if you moved your trip up six weeks, you'd really be in the 'sweet spot' of lower airfare tickets. There were some sales on BA just recently for travel Nov. 1-Dec. 15. I'm sure you can find some discounts around there (Thanksgiving is not a holdiay there so no big travel rush).

Nov. and Feb are usually the cheapest months to get to London. Try utilizings Yahoo Travel's flexible dates search around then and see what you can get.

J. without fail has become my biggest pet peeve. I can't really blame the hotels for this situation but my flights into London usually get me to my hotel a good 2-4 hours before they're ready for me. There's nothing worse than having to make a jet-lagged, travel-grime covered, time-killing tourism excursion while you wait to get into your room and get a shower.

T. has also been a weird one for me as I've had various ATMs get very finicky about whether they'll accept my ATM card. I believe Barclays and Bank of America have some sort of agreement now that makes it easier for their customers to use the other's machines so I've had less of a problem with this situation the last couple of times I've been over.

I would also like to note that while Rick's suggestion of where to leave your bag is not insured, it is in good hands. I had to find a place for my bag and Rick's contacts sorted me out.

I'm noticing that on the Arsenal ticket thread that people are having to reconfirm their ticket requests. Being that Rick hasn't PMed me asking for confirmation, do you think I should be worried about not getting tickets?

My apologies if I am being paranoid, but I absolutely have to see the Gunners- Spurs showdown. Thanks.

The PM'ing is from the 19th July. If you posted before that you have tickets without needing confirmation - i thought i had made that clear before so apologies if some were confused.

Rick will PM you when he needs the money. If you've listed your request in the thread, and you haven't had any queries from him about it, you can assume that the tickets are yours. ArseAm get a certain allocation and that's why he set a maximum of 10 sets of tickets per game before declaring it "sold out". That way he knows that he can guarantee those 10 people tickets.

It will all be sorted. If you have a personal email address and you can't check the forum, PM it to me and I will email you when any new information or action is required to get you your tickets.

I'm about to leave for England in a few days and I'm really looking forward to seeing the season opener with my son -- woohoo. Excited, and nervous. I still haven't heard any confirmation from Rick yet but I'm taking your reassurance as best I can and assuming that "no news is good news" :)

I'm guessing that we're waiting to hear whether Arsenal will be at home in the Champs League on August 14/15, before I'm being asked to PayPal the money. I asked for this game (if Arsenal are at home), but the fixture has still not been set. Does anyone know when that game will be confirmed?

Thanks again -- and hopefully you got my email address a while ago...

"Back in my day" all you needed was 50 pence. 45p to get in (no ticket required) and 5p for a programme...how times have changed ;)

Reason is I haven't yet been charged by the club for some of the tickets so therefore don't know the price bracket. Really am not sure what to do. Everyone will get tickets but I think (and I spoke with Andrew about this last week) we might have to start just charging at the higher bracket and then refunding if we get charged less, when we get charged. Can't see any other way. Many other clubs do it by people sending blank cheques which is just not possible for us. Guess it's a con of our success

That would be my vote. Just charge the maximum and refund the difference or allow the person to contribute the difference to Arsenal America. What should control, though, is whatever system is easiest for yall. I've often sent in either credit card information or a post-dated check to pay for playoff and bowl game tickets. And with paypal, it's easy to do a refund.
