View Full Version : New Premier League Theme

The Premiership will be changing it's official theme song for the upcoming season. The current theme, which I love, is the following (I'm sure all of us know it).
PwkjzaFw_i4
They are getting rid of this, which I think is the best theme since NBA ON NBC back in the day, for the following. This is the composer's MySpace page (http://www.myspace.com/peterlawlor), click the song "My Saturday Self" on the music player on the right.
It's f&&king horrid. They are taking the most electric anthem in the world, and reducing to a pile of absolute rubbish. That had to be one of the most cheesy, 80's, uninspired piece of crap I've ever heard.
Why would they want to change the current theme? I was clubbing a few weeks ago, and the techno remix of the current them came on; the club went nuts -half because they knew what it came from, and the other half because it's a great piece of music.
Such a stupid move - it's a small thing to get worked up about, but goddam is that new song ************.

Sometimes the truth hurts -- that song flat out SUCKS. Sounds like a BBC advert, or a bad imitation of The Who. Four beats, change note, four beats, change note, four beats, change note... How original. Not.
Don't hold your breath waiting for a club mix, I doubt even Tiesto could salvage anything out of that mess.

I'd have said a Status Quo cover band with a special guest appearance by Kraftwerk after they listened to Friday I'm in Love by The Cure non stop for 12 hours, This is the One by the Stone Roses for 6 and Alive and Kicking by Simple Minds for 1.
Unlike the above songs, it is a bit poo, isn't it?

The other thing I noticed is that they seem to be doing away with the term "Premiership" and going with "Premier League" instead. Both skysports.com and bbc.co.uk changed the sidebar titles to reflect this, and the arm badges are changed from "Barclay's Premiership" to "Barclay's Premier League". Not sure what the reason for that change is.

Can anyone get hold of the Man Utd/Nike advert where two are running and get splashed by the United team bus? (First year with Nike)
And "Face off" Arsenal v Man Utd (Scoreline finished 2-2)

Happened back in mid-May, I posted in the Random Question thread about it, because I didn't get it, and still don't.

And also, I don't see that song on that dude's page anymore. Anyone have another link?
