He did very well, although I'll admit I was surprised, I can't even remember if he was MOTM for that game...but anyway... not bad for the first year guy. Not long ago some were talking about him possibly being waived to free up roster space.

Fantastic. It's good to see him playing well.

Here's how the writers select the player of the week:

1) Pick whoever gets the most goals.
2) If no one scores more than one goal, pick the goalscorer with the most assists or pick an oustanding goalkeeper who kept a shutout.

Addlery had a goal and assist, therefore he wins.

Unfortunately it seems that the voters never even watch the matches. I don't believe any defender has ever won the award without scoring a goal. That's why we need a technical study group to pick the winners.

Well, Fred and Gomez also had a goal and an assist in that same game.

I would think Addlery's being the game-winner would be a worthy reason to make him the PotW though. In a weekend full of draws, the only other worthy candidates would have been Kamara for his game-winner or TFC's gk for standing on his head. Not really a whole lot of solid choices to be honest.

Good for him. I like how he plays and I love his attitude, both on and off the field. I chatted with him at the golf tournament, and told him how glad I was to have a holdup forward on the team; one who could bring the ball down, distribute, and was not above banging heads with big defenders. We chatted about playing in Viet Nam ("Man, you think it's humid here!?!") and about golf ("I don't play. This is going to be bad.")

I said I'd like him to see him get more PT. He responded that he was trying to make the most of whatever minutes he got, and that he didn't expect many when the team was doing so well (before RSL.) Nice down-to-earth, realistic attitude, and he seemed like a very pleasant fellow.

I'm glad to see him rewarded for his work. Jaime, Kpene, and Addlery make a decent stable of forwards to work with. Each brings a different set of skills to the game.

wow great honor for addlery...

i wonder if the voters took the fan support of the last home match into consideration when voting on this???

Good job to Addlery...now he just needs to remember to "smack that ass" when golfing and he will be fine!

hell the fact he scored on a corner was really something. i think we've scored on corners 3 times since 2000

Addlery had a higher PPM -- points per minute, because he came in on the 12th minute. Sadly, I think this could be MLS's criteria.

Well, logically speaking, it makes sense: he was an emergency sub who wound up scoring and assisting, and really making a mark on the game. That's pretty impressive.

I'm happy for Nick, and I'm very happy he scored and "assisted" on a goal - but frankly, I didn't think he had a great "game" on Thursday. He did have a few really nice runs.

I was a bit surprised when I saw on the JumboTron he was MOTM, then remembered it's all based on what goals you score.
I hate to agree with scaryice but he/she/it makes a great point above :)

Well, he is a forward, all you need to do is score once and you've had a good game.

My thinking exactly--I think he (deservedly) got bonus points for "rising to the challenge." He was called on, and he delivered.
