Many of you will be pleased to see that Ben brings up the topic of tickets dispersal wondering and the random scattering of Canadian fans while the Chileans seemed to be able to sit together in vocal groups.

i'm wondering why this tourney doesn't have designated supporter sections for tickets. I got stuck in a crowd of Chileans - just like the game on the field, we're run over.

... and that is exactly Ben's point. We were discussing it during and after the game and it really does smack of amateurism in the organizational end of things.
It is very disappointing.

Actually, I found this comment by Knight very puzzling.
ASSUMPTION: Pretty much everyone at the game was cheering for either Canada or Chile (i.e. not a lot of neutrals).
THEREFORE: If the Chileans were clumped into "three distinct and rowdy pockets" (to quote another part of his article) would not the entire remainder of the stadium be Canadian fans? How could Canada's fans possibly be "scattered all over the stadium by the relentless randomness of the ticket allocation process" when we made up all but three pockets of the spectators?

When the crowd mix is like 70-30 in favour of Chile, it is hard not to be grouped together.
The way I see it, the people in the cheap corner seats (myself included) were just plain out louder. Those are the pockets I believe Ben is refering to.

I think Ben's point is that the Canadian fans wanted to sit as a group but the CSA made it difficult to do so by not having designated areas. I understand your point about few neutrals and mostly partizan supporters though.
That said, the hardcore fans that attend BMO sit together and wanted to do so for this game but the CSA's ticketing system didn't allow for that possibility.

Blizzard,
So you are saying it was CSA's decision not to have designated areas? Hmmm, that is interesting. I just figured it was due to ticketmaster's random seat selection software.
I think it would have been much better and less tension to have separate supporter's section, but on the other hand, what would have happen if those designated areas are not filled by the respective team's supporters?
