Awesome, thanks for the pics.
I'm really getting excited for the trip already. The view out to the ocean at the Cape Town Stadium is gorgeous.

It will put a lot of pressure on FIFA to keep it in SA, since money and resources have been spent.
And who knows what would happen to the stadiums if the WC isn't held there?

my thoughts as well.
Furthermore, whats going to happen to these stadiums after the WC? Seriouxly, what a waste of money when they're only going to have a handful of games in them.
These stadiums look so huge, they'll never match their original purpose.

These stadiums look so huge, they'll never match their original purpose. Well, that presumes the writer actually knows their original purpose. Hint: Other sports are played in South Africa. Additionally, hosting the World Cup serves many other purposes beyond hosting a month worth of football. Think FIFA-funded infrastructure development or enhancement, the nation's eyes drawn to South Africa vast array of tourism alternatives, the world's investors eyes and $s, Euros, Yen, Yuan, etc. to South Africa resources and enormous growth potential. If only hosting the World Cup in South Africa was only about football...

The goalposts are too far apart. They're going to have move them closer in for FIFA regulations

I'll be there come hell or highwater (being SA, both are possible). I think SA will put together an interesting World Cup. I think the stadia and the immediate surrounding area will be fine and safe. As for the rest of the areas, well, that may be another story.
As for the "will they survive the first round" debate, my original idea would be no, they won't. But the draw will tell us a lot when it comes. It is certainly possible for them to survive. Lets be honest, no one expected the US to survive what was a relatively tough group in 1994. Colombia, a pre-tourney favorite, finished dead last and we survived as one of the "best third place teams". Anything is possible.

Hey people, stop thinking what if and what about this and that, just get your bloody selves down here and let's have a one hell of a party! Damn am sick and tired already. The satdiums will be awesome and the soccer will even of out of this world. My country is a wonderfull place to be in and I am one of the many people working tirelessly to make it a better place for all, so drop your bagage and lets hit the beaches, climb table mountain, hike the trails, enjoy a BRAAI (B-B-Q), watch some Game (Wild Animals) and be tranqualised by the unforgetable sunsets while sipping on a cold one.
For a more personalised intro into SA drop me a mail on ikejiya@webmail.co.za on find me on facebook under the name Luntu Eisenhaur Jiya and let me be your host.
Peace

Can we at least agree that it is not one giant bed of roses? There are great areas but the opposite is true as well. Individuals who have concerns about traveling to SA are well within their rights in doing so. Please do not give individuals who have legitimate concerns the look of disdain.
