My coworkers and I talk about football on a somewhat regular basis. For that reason, I was surprised to find out that not a single one of my coworkers showed any interest in the Copa America. A few of them did not even know what it was.(!)

I live and work in The Netherlands, a pretty football-friendly country. I remember the last Copa America final; some really beautiful football took place, which was then followed by a tense penalty shootout, thanks to a last-minute equaliser. I was the only one in the pub that showed any interest in the game. A few English regulars who are generally mad about the World Cup, Premiership and Champion's League simply shrugged and payed little attention to what was on the screen.

I'm interested in seeing just how popular the Copa America is in each region of the world. Vote away!

If from Oceania, choose the Asia option ;)

Well, from my European view it´s a regional tournament for South American countries..and as such it will not be that interesting from an European point of view I guess.
And it hurts that it´s not played every 4th year like the EC tournament.

It´s also a fact that many south American teams (like Brazil) doesn´t send their best squads.

From that point of view, its a good thing Copa America will now be held once every for years, once this one is finished. (though the new ruling states that a new tournament can be held sooner should CONMEBOL federations agree on it).

As for countries (like Brazil) not fielding their best teams, yes, that's a shame. This year, however, it seems that that majority of the countries are fielding the best squads they can get.

Hopefully, now that the CA is held once every 4 years, all the CONMEBOL teams will take it as seriously as UEFA countries do to the Euro.

I wonder if the CA is as important financially to the CONMEBOL members as the EC is to Uefa members?
Moneywise it´s no difference to play the WC or the EC for us...

So far it's been pretty entertaining, a huge amount of goals scored per game.

Almost every country has brought their A teams other than Brazil and USA, and they've both started with losses.

This has been the most entertaining copa america i have seen. I'm not too old so that may not be saying much, but it's definitly a lot better than 2003 copa america.

I remember watching the Copa America religiously when it was on Eurosport in the early 90's. I love it! I even noted down the teams and updated the football games I played.

So far I've only managed to see Brazil V Chile and Paraguay V USA because the games are on too late :( If it had started two weeks later I'd have been able to watch every game.

I chose option two; not my favourite tournament, but I find quite a few of the games to be rather interesting. It's also my only chance to watch the weaker teams from Comnebol play against other South American squads and the Concacaf powers.

this is a good tournament for players to migrate to European teams during the summer trades.(unless they are from brazil or argentina, since most players are already in a descent team at least)

Making it an interesting tournament
