I think its a shame that Todd chose that forum to share that information because I think he was looking for sympathy.

There is a lot of background to this which I am sure you have been following, which included Todd making somewhat of a fool of himself on Big Soccer, attacking a guy who not only knows more about soccer than Todd does, but has been around the US scene twice as long as Todd has.

IMO, there was alot more to the article, that's all.

All well and good. That still does not explain why you think the subject of this thread is misrepresenting.

I never said the whole article was about the Krafts losses. Read the subject title and tell me what it wrong with it, ignoring what ever the rest of the article says?

My statement wasn't meant to turn your screws, that's for sure.

ok, I apologize for telling you to f^ck off. You can still bite me though :)

A couple things.

If Garber has read this interview, I imagine he does not agree. First, no doubt, Todd Smith is not in the inner circle of the financial gurus at MLS so he is talking off the top of his head - like me.

Second, Garber has stated on repeated occasion that the Crew make money. That I remember for sure. Garber may have also said that the Revs make money.

The key here is how Todd and MLS want to define profitable. Money into pocket A (Revs), transfer to pocket B (the razor) to pocket C (Kraft). Pocket A is empty.

Just to be fair:

I read this column a few days ago even though the money mentioned is a small part of the article, it is the one thing I remembered most - because it was most disturbing as well as opposite what Garber has been repeating.

Two of the finest posters on BS trading punches - can't we all get along?

Edited to note you two have shaken hands. Thanks.

---------------------------

Personally, I think GPK is right in that Smith's looking to get his side of the story out there, and finding CyberSoccerNews to be willing to let him get his side out there. Classic spin/damage control, as the cynic said.

Was this before The Crash, or since?

Was this before The Crash, or since?

Todd recently responded to a comment made by Chris Allen (who has as much knowledge of soccer in the US as pretty much the rest of BS combined).

The sad part was that I think Todd mistook the comment for an attack when in reality Chris was actually giving Todd a break.

Anyway, the long and short of it is here...

Thanks for the kind and generous words, Andy.

And if you folks REALLY want the long and short of it, here's the original thread that was prompted by a very critical article by the Boston Herald's Gus Martins on 7/29.

They don't pay rent. Robert Kraft owns Gillette Stadium as it is now called. CMGI only paid for the naming rights, and have now pulled out of the arrangement. The other thing is that, even assuming the Crew are profitable, Hunt also operates the Wizards and probably loses money on them. Now if he's making money off of the Crew, do these profits off-set the Wizards' losses?

They don't pay rent.

The Revolution do pay rent. Always have, and always will.

just to say that i thought andy's focus on the $ part of the article was right on this board.

probably just the way my mind works, but i rushed thru the rest of the article, while reading and rereading the profitability part. since i support a different mls team, profitability of the teams and the league as a whole will catch my eye more quickly than the inner workings of the revs front office.

that's just me. i appreciate that other people would have a different view.

Don't talk to other Big Soccer members that way. You're not untouchable you know.

You might look good in Yellow.

This isn't appropriate at all and is the sort of thing that give BS mods a bad name. Why couldn't you just PM Andy and calmly tell him that his comments weren't kosher? Instead you decide to powertrip and make threats in public. Andy's comments were bad but this crap is worse.

It's already been settled, eneste.

I don't get it. Why would Bob Kraft pay himself to rent his own stadium?

OK. Everyone's had their say on the article, apparently, so I'm locking this since it's gone off-topic into a slanging match.
