Let's face it, this (http://music.yahoo.com/read/news/44921474) is the biggest MLS-related news of the week. Not just because of the Spice Girls' PR machine could teach Karl Rove a thing or two about manipulating the media, and not just because Sigi no longer has the most impressive MLS-related rack.

It's because there's a chance now that we'll be shown some (tangential) soccer highlights while our better halves are subjecting us to E! or VH1's Best Week Ever. If my wife's going to bore a hole into my skull with entertainment-related programming, at least Posh and Goldenballs will partially fill it with soccer. Can't ask for much more than that.

Madrid fires Capello, the manager who brought them their first title in four years.
'We don't think Fabio Capello is the right person to lead Real Madrid into the future given what we want this club to achieve.' (http://soccernet.espn.go.com/news/story?id=442058&cc=5901)
Same week Barcelona signed Thierry Henry, so I'd say the Catalans win this round. Title or not, it still looks to me like the lunatics are running the asylum at the Bernabeu.

Tonight's Game
DC v. Colorado: The Rapids are on a 4-game losing streak according to MLSnet.com, and are without Herc and Jerk, both on Gold Cup duty. DC gave RSL their first victory of the season last week, and are without their defensive leader (Boswell), their midfield engine (Olsen) and their star forward (Moreno). I'll be watching US v. Argentina. 1-0 United
Saturday's Games
FCD v. Houston: Five straight wins for the Dynamo and they officially look like the team that won last year's MLS Cup. Dallas, a team that already looks worn down, are starting a stretch of 9 games in 32 days. Ouch. I think that it's time for the annual FCD implosion, and I think it starts now. 3-0 Houston
Columbus v. RBNY: As soon as I got off the Crew bandwagon they rip off three consecutive great performances... son of a bitch. Columbus, with Grabavoy and Schelotto zipping around like mulletted little mice are secretly one of the most fun teams to watch in the league. My Red Bulls, on the other hand, are a decidedly mediocre team right now with a defense that's leaking goals like a sieve. 3-1 Crew
Goats v. Revs: New England have scored three goals in three of their last 4 games, so it's not like the offense has suffered without Twellman. CD Carson on the other hand took last week off and got shellacked for their efforts at the hands of soccerto... er, Brad Davis. But they're a much, much tougher out at home. Tough one to call, especially since the Revs travel so well. 2-2
Sunday's Games
Chicago v. Rapid Colo Colo: This one is interesting only because we get to see if Denny Hamlett believes in the 8 d-mid scheme used to such great success by his predecessor. If he does then I'm not even going to bother watching this one. 0-0
KC v. TFC: Five games left in this six-game trek for Toronto, and Clubber Lang predicts pain! So far in their inaugural season TFC have played five road games, conceded 14 goals and scored two for a grand total of one point. On the other side of the pitch KC were playing the most attractive soccer in the league up until the point that I began to notice that they were playing the most attractive soccer in the league. Also, what the hell is this (http://www.mlsnet.com/news/team_news.jsp?ymd=20070627&content_id=101823&vkey=pr_kcw&fext=.jsp&team=t105) all about? What duties do the "Wizards Starting 11 Girls" have to perform? Why are they not allowed to have last names, and why does everything here seem so illicit? I like the direction this league is taking. 2-0 KC
Last week's picks: 2-5 (Shut up, you know you picked KC and DC, too!)
Season to date: 26-40
This stuff kicks!
