We have good players but not a good team
What are you drinking? We have average players. We just believe our own press and think they are good.

Well, let's see now, who do we have?
-Currently, the best SA player ('06 winner).
-The best DM in Brazil.
-The best foreign player in Brazil at the moment.
-The world's top goal scorer from last year.
-The 5th best Gk in Spain (who played for a sh!t team, mind you).
;)
One thing is to have a good team and the other one is to have good players. :)

Yes we may have all this great players everywere but when they get together for a tournament we stink and thats the truth. For once in my life time I would like to see a chilean team play its heart out for the entire 90 minutes like other great futbol countries do. I dont care if we lose but damm we gave it all on the field.

Thats what we have been saying, good players but bad team.

You call this good? I call it average. ZAMORANO in Real Madrid was good; Salas in lazio was good.

Like I said, you are believing our own marketing. Do you really think Fernadndez is the best SA player?
He's got talent, NO QUESTION. But that talent took him right in to the bench of a mid-table team in Spain.
I call that average.

He was voted by the SA press as the best player in SA last year. I wouldn't call that my own marketing. ;)
IIRC, Villarreal finished 5th-6th, not exactly mid table (UEFA Cup territory, in fact). (As a sidenote, they were the only team in Spain able to team all the teams in the top 5.)
What else you got? :D

its not our marketing, its uruguayan
Villarreal is better than a mid table team , they have played in europe 2 of 3 times in the past seasons (including now). No one expected him to be a superstar the first season. Any person with enough info (or brains) would know he is too tired (even Pellegrini has said so) plus he has to get used to la liga.

All I'm saying is that we need to demand more from our players. We all believe the press and start believing that we have an "above average" team when in fact we DO NOT.
Let's face it, we do not have an above average team

You call it good. I call it average.
I think most people would call it good.
In terms of players making an impact in European leagues we're not far off Ecuador and Paraguay (we probably have more players making an actual impact in Europe).
I think you let your personal views on this cloud your judgment.
And the "press" theory: I don't buy it. All Chileans players that imho have something to offer I've seen at one point or the other and thus feel as though I am able to make a fair judgment on them all. :)

Most CHILEANS call it good. I can agree with that.
But realisticly speaking. If you pull ALL Futbol journalist of the world to rank the Chilean team, we will be ranked AVERAGE or BELOW AVERAGE.
