The 3-0 (should've been 4-0) victory against Uruguay last night was just so overwhelming that i cant help but ask myself --was this a fluke? or does it siganl the long awaited rebirth of Peru's soccer?
It's been a long time since Peru's golden generation.......

not sure yet, in reality you could only answer this question after la copa america, and the sub17 world cup competition.

Si pero tambien en el 2001 cuando agarro la seleccion tuvo partidos muy buenos (como el de Colombia en Bogota o Brasil en el Maracana) para despues caer ante Ecuador y Uruguay en Lima.

Yup, I would like to see another solid performance against those two before I get my hopes up.

I dont know why peruvians get hyped up after just one win.
I was on libero's website and all they could talk about is how every single player played like a superstar.
Seriously guys..calm down. It was only one game, against a team that played like shit.
Peru won, fair and square, and played well, but it wasnt perfect by far. There are still flaws that need to be worked out, flaws that will shine through when playing against a better team..
So yea, dont get hyped up..it was just one game...tranquiloss

I didnt know the thread starter wasnt Peruvian but my point still stands. I saw the Libero website and other Peruvian websites, and from what Ive seen, other posters here share the same outlook.
What does it matter where Im from..
Im Peruvian as well, but I guess not as deluded as others.

dont forget that the last eliminatorias we beat paraguay 4-1 in lima... and the rest is history...
i do sense a difference though, our defense was actually pretty good against uruguay... let's see if we can be consistent

well peru, it looks like we always start playing nice
02 peru 2 paraguay 0
06 peru 3 mexico 1
`peru 4 paraguay 1
and now 07 peru 3 uruguay 0
we have a lot a chances to go to QF, but then i would like to face argentina, brasil, mexico, or colombia, that would be a good examination for us

The difference between this game, and other "good" games la sele has played is that our defense played better than it has played in years. Who would have guessed? I think the most optimistic person here didn't expext much from our backline, or much less our mids.

thats true, but remember that the same defense, except vilchez played against ecuador twice, we need more games to really see if this will work,

Its just one game. They played solid, but we know football, anything can happen. Lets not put our hopes up until the sele reach the 2nd stage and play against the higher ranked nations. Only then we will see what we can expect for the WCQ.

Even the Sele in the 70's couldn't manage to have a Decent clean sheet. The WC and CA I mean. :o
