Shep Messing just did an interview on Marcelo Balboa's radio show in Colorado. During a question and answer segment regarding individual team ownership in MLS, Messing said "I can tell you that Chicago could be sold within the next week".
There was no follow up question, he didn't say who the prosprective buyer was, or where he got the information.
I can't believe the local guys (especially Luis) would not have heard something about this. On second thought, most of the local guys covering the Fire are either asleep or don't know what they're talking about.

Does that mean we would be rid of Guppy too?
Dave and Guppy gone in the span of a month!?!?!?!?!
It's Christmas in June.

As a guest appearing on "From the Pitch", Shep Messing claims that Chicago will be sold this week.

I really hope this is true, and I really hope the Fire is sold to an owner that is committed to making the team better.
Thank you AEG for getting Blanco, but I think we all know who AEG is most concerned about. While the Fire sit back and slump, the Galaxy are getting players such as Beckham, Pavon, Xavier. The Fire have become the neglected child in the family of 3 kids
Hopefully, if this is true, the new owners are dedicated to making the team better.

Maybe we should have a poll to decide which thread should remain open, and then make that the thread we use.

PS: I hope it's someone super rich who loves the beautiful game. ;)

I dont know why so many people on here are happy that the team will be sold, this could be just as bad as it could be good. If the Fire are sold to a bottom line GM you can forget about this team ever spending money in order to improve, heck you can bet your bottom dollar that if this team is sold to that type of Owner that you better believe that the Club America Chicago nightmare might come true.

I love the Fire. I always have, and it could be a bad thing if they are sold. I want Guppy out as much as anybody, but if they are sold and rebranded into Club America Chicago or something, I will never support them again. I'm tired of seeing a club get sold and change its identity. Especially when this club, that I love, has a wonderful history. I really hope it's not going to be that type of sale.

I'm not a fan of business, I'm a fan of the Chicago Fire.
I don't give a shit who owns the Fire...as long as it doesn't adversely effect the quality and performance of the team (which I refuse to refer to as "the product on the field").
I'm personally willing to stand pat for the time being...but I'm not calling the raise until the bet is made. ;)

I have spent years trying to convince folks to support the Fire because theya re the only team in town. If we are rebranded as CA-Chicago, or anyoen else, I will continue to do the same.

What if they change the name to the "Mice", and wear pink jerseys?
