I've been bored this summer looking for a job and running to get in shape for next season, so i'd thought i'd do a little research.

i'm a winger and i've been obsessed with late 70's-80's english and scottish wingers. I don't know why, but i am

so, i'd thought i'd ask, who are the best wingers of this era???

.....other then waddle and barnes.:o

I always liked Alan Brazil. May be it is his name.

1980's: Just a few names.... Steve Coppell, Graham Rix. I really liked Tony Morley.

if you want someone that's not Scottish or English, there's Bruno Conti, winger for Roma and Italy, man of the match of the 1982 World Cup final.

You can't have Coppell without the great Gordon Hill. Also need to have Peter Barnes who was great in his day. Can't leave out Dave Thomas of QPR.

Though the best winger of that era was probably Rensenbrink.

I watched him for years but for some bizarre reason completely forgot him for this thread. Maybe it's because he played in Scotland and so I didn't automatically bring him to mind. He also dies tragically young so a career as a pundit wasn't possible. However, he was a complete genius.

Probably the last of the truly great Scottish players?

Although it breaks my heart to say it Cooper was pure class. Others worth a mention are John Robertson at Notts Forest, smoked like a chimney and was slower than he looked but it never seemed to stop him getting a cross in. Davie Provan, overshadowed by Cooper but did a real job at Celtic, scored classic free kick against Dundee Utd in Scottish Cup Final 1986 I think.
