Every other Portuguese fan here on BS seems to think Portugal will stink it up because they are sending a weak team. I've also read that The Gambia could be a surprise team.

LOL Mexico will smash us man.
This is the most pathetic youth team I've ever seen from Portugal
Only 4/5 top quality players, the rest play in the second division and most arnt even starters ffs.
Our best players are on U-19 like Daniel Carrico, Fabio Paim, Tiago Pinto, Rui Pedro, Fabio ferriera and ricardo fernandes from chelsea Adrien Silva the amazing playermaker talent etc.
And the others were called to u-21 and are already serious options for the Senior ntl team..so they have outgrown these levels like Messi, C ronaldo, rooney Andershow etc
Also Helder Barbosa, a naturally left footed winger that has skills and speed like Quaresma/ronaldo wont play because of a injury in this tournement..a massive blow, by far the second most important player in the squad besides Bruno Gama.
Funny thing is, although being by far less individually talented then most past teams, they've managed to do what those couldnt, and that is to make it to the u20 world cup.
So who knows maybe without that many individuals it could do them a world of good, although I doubt.
i dont have any hopes.
also this mexico team is the one that won the U-17 World Cup.

I missed out on the U-17 World Cup, so I've yet to see the Mexican squad play.
Hopefully none of them have reached their peak yet. =D

Ya, well, a beautiful free kick although there was no foul on the play and now a penalty, also on a bogus call. The assistants seem to be calling this match with the referee's only job being to blow the whistle when the flags are waved.
Talent and territorial possession aside, this match would be scoreless with a reasonably competent official wearing the red shirt.

Yeah... it seems FIFA followed Portugals lead and sent their B or C-teams for officials

 What a diving fest from that annoying portugese player Fabio (11)
Damn!
you do know the NZ player clearly grabbed his jersey right?
anyways he dived but he wasnt the worse.
Zequinha ffs, what a shameful ************ player.
Not only did he miss 3 EASY chances insider the box my grandmother would finish blindfolded.
but he ruined a superb play where we cut open new zealands defence once more with multiple back flicks and back heels setting up a 3 v 1 situation in the box.
all he had to do was ********ing PASS and bruno Gama would have the goal at his mercy
BUT NO he flopped like a damn walrus, shameful ffs..the ref should have awarded him a red card. We would have played better with ten men without him
Anyways we could have easily scored more, and we played at 50%
but our defence aside from Antunes is a joke, we stopped playing the last 20 minutes like it was a training match..ridiculous.
Mexico will rape us.
If only Daniel Carrico(Sporting lisbon) and yago fernandez( Valencia) were at the back, it would be safe but their at U-19
Joao Pedro is a joke, i could tell 4 seconds before it happened how he would let the new zealand players haver the space to run in behind him..
NZ played hard, and their centre midfielder who had to leave for family reasons would have made a difference against a ahalf assed cocky portugeuse team.

Gambia played very well at the 2005 U17 World Cup, beating Brazil. I certainly expect them to advance.

The Mexicans open the scoring with a stunning strike by Dos Santos. A long volley that and tremendous effort. Really against the run of play, but just shows you what finishing your chances does for a team.

gambia is a big strong team that defends well and keeps up nonstop pressure and pace which is a huge advantage in the weather theyre playing in. strategy-wise they make up for their talent deficiencies by playing to their size and conditioning advantages
