I didn't see the game as I have better things to do than watch Beckham in a match in this kickball league they are trying to pass off as a proper soccer league out here ...

Says the "scunthorpe" fan.....

Here is a hint: dont insult other leagues and display a holier than thou attitude especially when you support a team that is inferior to nearly every MLS team.

Scunthorpe would probably come in dead last place in MLS.

I have mentioned this before but apparently he 'isn't a fan' which tells you all you need to know about his love of soccer in general.

Haha! I don't support Scunthorpe United! I just put that in there for added measure to see you lot go on & rant about it! Haha! As for Beckham, big deal, he finally scored a goal in that kickball league he's playing in. So what! It proves nothing. My Grandmother could score in that so called soccer league! With all the money they are paying that European outcast Beckham it's about time he did something besides run around with Tom Cruise! Like I've already said his team Los Angeles is one spot from the bottom of the standings in the MLS West & as I've already stated Beckham playing in America in the MLS won't change anything for the game here long term just wait & see. If it was a real proper league & strong & healthy with huge turnouts week in, week out all over the country with real quality top flight international players' then yes of course the league would grow but that's just not the case sorry to say. A year from now out here with the hyped up fast food get them in, take their money & get them out culture the same people that are going to see Beckham now will be saying ... Beckham? ... Beckham who?:D

Do I really want to feed the troll? Dammit it is so hard to resist. You aren't a soccer fan, you repeatedly refer to the league of your own country as crap, you talk so much shite it must be flowing out of your ears, you repeat yourself in every post, without backing up any of your wild accusations

You are a prize tool, and a sad strange little kid.

Perhaps the mods can give you a forum ban, it might encourage you to get out of the house and make some friends.

In conclusion.......................

F*CK OFF.

Haha! Leeds your like a kid throwing a fit because your not getting your way! Actually I am a huge soccer fan & unlike you I actually play. I just have better taste than you when it comes to the leagues I follow & what players' I respect! I follow the EPL as well as La Liga in Spain & I also fancy the German & Dutch leagues. Players' from the past I have respect for are Charlton, Duncan Edwards, David Pegg, Pele, Cryuff, Dennis Law, Best, Maradona & the lot. Nowadays I find Rooney, Gerrard, David Villa, Klose, Cannavaro, Henry, Tevez to be top flight gifted players' & if you look at these names I've just mentioned they all have one thing in common .... They have been, & the younger ones' are now a million times better players' then Beckham could ever hope to be! Believe it or not I'm not the only person in the world that feel's Beckham is overated & what he was brought here for was a clever marketing ploy to make some fast money & profits' for particular people that have investments in his team as well as the league & of course it's making Beckham loads of money & that's reality! I take it you do not live in Southern California like I do so it's only natural you won't understand the here today, gone tomorrow fast food culture. This whole Beckham has landed parade they will ride it out for all they can & then jump onto the latest hype band wagon that is drawn up! As for me being a troll, not hardly I just post my opinions & it's people like you that have nothing better to do than sift through the thousands of post here & jump down other peoples' throats that post opinions you don't like or agree with. Your the troll. You might want to take a good look at your own post as if anybody stands a strong chance of being banned it's going to be you long before me. I might be a kid but at least I have enough common sense to leave out vulgar terms & words when I'm posting. Like I've said I'm no fan of Beckham & I do not find him to be a world class player. So what! It's my opinion & that's that!:D

I accidentally got onto the field for Burnley reserves alongside current international Kyle Lafferty amongst others and have actually been paid to play, and still play at a decent nonleague level. If you are such a massive fan of Best, why did you make the particularly shit, nasty joke about him earlier in the thread?

If those are your opinions of Beckham that is fine, you missed out John Charles (whom Cruyff said was better than him), Billy Bremner, Lorimer, Madeley (the last true utility player) and Hunter. If you had included one of them for once I would have repped you. Don't begin posts with HAHA and people might take your opinion seriously. I think you are wrong, but I am happy to debate the points but not trade insults. I apologise for throwing insults, now perhaps you might be good enough to phrase your posts towards a constructive argument and we can have a proper debate.

Haha! I always start my post off with Haha! to lighten the mood & for no other reason! You have to understand that for me at least this is not a debate but rather diffeent people posting different opinions. I might be young but I know a thing or two about the sport. This doesn't deem me an expert of course but still I know a few things about the game. I'm only 15 but play for & start for an under 19 youth side connected to a professional club here. I have an edge as my Father & 3 of my Uncles all played at the professional level in England years ago before there was a Premiership in Division#1 mind you as at that time that was the highest level for professionals' to play at that point in time so I've been trained & educated by former first rate players' my entire life. My Father also played in Germany for one year as well as Spain for one year he is now an Attorney with his own practice. The comment you mentioned I stated about Best was not in disrespect to him. If anything what I meant is even dead he could run circles around Beckham. Again, this is just my opinion! Trust me, kids' my own age out here that are playing the sport are not buying into this Beckham hyped media blitz. Like me they see right through it & like me most of them wouldn't go to a Galaxy game if they were paid to do so. This! is what the pulse is out on the street here. Sure your going to have your lookie loos going to catch a game just to see what all the fuss is about but they will sooner than later become bored & latch onto the latest craze or trend & that's why I know the Beckham circus won't last in the long run as it's all been done to death before here with much better players' & that league went belly up! As you might have guessed I'm not American. I wasn't born here even though I've pretty much grown up here. You will also have to understand that at least at the adult level here soccer sad to say is considered a very minor sport & always will be. Even American college Football & Basketball & yes ... boring Baseball draw much larger numbers' than soccer ever will at the adult level. If the league were smart they would have brought in some high profile Latin player as the vast majority of soccer fans' out here are from South American countries & trust me these people won't go to see Beckham play if you paid them to do so either!:D

Haha! Leeds you know the problem this league, the MLS faces now is by bringing Beckham over for the huge amount of money he's getting they have opened up Pandora's Box so to say. What I mean is for other teams in the league to say sign a top flight player be it European or South American they would have to be willing to fork out even more money & a much better deal for a top flight player that's not past it but on top of his game to even think about coming over here & that's the problem. If you compare this league to say the EPL, La Liga, the German League or even Italy's serie A this league draws such small numbers out here so they simply can't afford it. Like I said with the average adult sports' fan here soccer is considered a very minor sport where in Europe, South America & pretty much the rest of the world soccer is considered the King of sports. Almost like a religion! So again, this is just my opinion but here it's a case where history repeats it'self as they are using the same formula the old NASL did to make a quick buck & fast profits for team owners & investors'. I know it's pathetic to say but it's the American way & that's how they do business here which I don't agree with but again it's my personal opinion. I do not hate Beckham. I just do not find him to be a quality player. In his time as a player he did just enough to get noticed on the pitch but it's what he's done off the pitch that's made him larger than life. I might not rate him as a world class player but I'll say this he's very media savy & he's anything but stupid so from a business standpoint he's top notch but as a player ... No way near being top notch! Again this is my opinion!:D

Look at it from this point of view, ticket revenue forms a very small percentage of football clubs revenue. The biggest money pots are TV revenue and merchandising and image rights etc.
Galaxy will make an enormous profit on the Beckham deal. He is estimated to have made Real Madrid £300million or $600m in commercial revenue in the years he was there.
Some premiership clubs get terrible crowds, some smaller than LA but they make their money from TV, so they don't have to care. See Fulham, Blackburn, Boro etc.
