Holland always does very well in the European championships for some reason, we got to the semis in the last two. For 2008 I don't think we're one of the top favourites but we are a dangerous outsider especially now that our youngsters are developing quicker than we all thought. A team like this:

-------------------------Sar-----------------

Zuiverloon--------Bouhla------Matthijsen--------Gio

---Seedorf----Sneijder or Van der Vaart----Drenthe

Van Persie----------Ruud-----------Robben

can't be that bad.

i thought you didn't like sedorf for the national team?

Didn't you know? Seedorf and NL have made peace again.

For now, at least :D

All teams have a hiccup of a game every now and then. Remember, Italy had to come back to draw against Lithuania in their qualifying group.

It's safe to say that 9 out of 10 times, Germany beats Cyprus and Italy beats Lithuania so don't concern yourself over those games.

I'm not rating Italy the favorites to win it, not at this point at least. I don't think anyone is the favorite right now.

Portugal was shameful in the world cup..we played pretty horrible.

Not even 50% of what we did at the euros or in QF.

At the enxt euro our squad will be miles better...but our squad will be too young, and will lack a leader to take the game by the balls. We'll see, but I rank us as Holland..dangerous outsiders( also..your squad isnt "better"..you have better forwards, we have the better defense..midfield is the same..i would rate them as exactly even:D)

Also england are better? i guess the fact they havent beaten us in over 40 years proves that..if they couldlt beat a portugal team missing

Deco
Andrade
Costinha
Quaresma
Fernandes
Moutinho

The last three most impotantly shamefully left of the squad when they were our best in form players the whole year prior to that..

with figo maniche and ronaldo playing at 50% fitness

what made them better? that quarter final was setup on a golden platter for England and they couldnt win!

they have no midfield, and they need to sort that out, also they lack creativity and technical skill..and it shows vs top teams. FFs even equador and paraguay dominated those games vs them..england have alot of work to do and their shit manager isnt helping.

Germany, Italy, Spain,( damn, what a squad), are the favourites.

Portugal, Holland, France are in a rebuilding stage..so who knows what to expect from their younger generations.

England need to sort their team and style of play out..they have the players to do well obviously, but time and time again the media overrate and overhype their players...to much pressure..like many national teams they seem to play their best when the odds are against them

They need a midfield most importantly.

I wonder how Greece is going to do in the Euro.......

I don't think anyone could ever exclude a squad like Germany's....

Besides, Cyprus is a terror at home, and all the smaller squads are getting tougher.... The punching bag teams are disappearing...

You should have seen our 0 - 1 victory over Luxemburg, they actually were better and deserved to win.

As of right now, I'd say France. Since this is the Euro though, I'm not too sure. I think it's more likely to be another unexpected winner (but I hope they play good football and deserve it at least.)

I had so much expectations that the final for Euro 04 was going to be Holland v. Czech Republic for a rematch (even neutrals would agree on this.) It was quite heartbreaking, as even if Holland didn't make it, the Czechs (most beautiful team of that tournament) clearly deserved to at least make the final. I'm not gonna put too much hopes on any one team anymore, especially for the Euro, where you never know what happens.

Germany have been very convincing since the World Cup, but we saw how they've done at their last two Euros....

uh huh and before those two, they got to three straight finals from 72-80, a semi in 88, and then 2 straight finals from 92-96. Five finals, three wins.

Somehow I don't think that germany are intimidated by the european championships.

For the guy that mentioned the portuguese golden generation...mate, it all started from the mid 90s with figo, couto, sousa, rui costa, pinto, sa pinto, baia, etc. It didn't start in 2002. Portugal at euro 2000 were pretty awesome. Took an even better france team to beat them.

My favourites are germany, who are getting better and better since the world cup, followed by italy, france and portugal.

That wasn't the golden generation, they were all rusted away. Our CBs couldn't even run for Christ's sake. They were very similar to the Czech's at the last World Cup. Had the likes of Koller, Nedved, Poborsky, but they were all old. Did great at the previous Euro, and played the best football, but couldn't cut it 2 years later.

whats up with all the hating on portugal? We are definetly one of the favourites for 08 our 2 weaknes's 1.Goalkeeper Ricardo actually shines for the national team while riding the bench for his club.2.Forwards.We do not have a proven reliable (Liedson? ,thats all we need) forward but there are some prospects (Hugo Almeida Vaz Te etc)but with Quaresma Ronaldo Deco Moutinho Nani Simao Fernandes Veloso in the midfield and the 4-5-1 or 4-1-1 formations most of our goals come from the midfield anyway.I see alot of this DISRESPECT comin from Dutch and English fans who we BEAT IN EURO 04 AND WC 06 You GUYs Have always been BAD losers and always will be admit when you were beaten by a better team. And in 08 we are gonna take that respect like it or not.As far as what youve "WON" i dont care about 30 years ago in your glorys days their over DEAL WITH IT.

HOW Many ASSISTS???? he came back for Fergie Queiroz and to STICK IT TO ENGLAnD....BELIEVE THAT.

Why not Holland?

Not a lot of people rate the Dutch these days. What's ironic of course is that they will all still think we will have underperformed unless we get to the finals and win it.
