:)

thanks, I will try and catch some more of their games (and with luca toni in the bundesliga, i have already caught some of bayern's games, and will do so in the future, hence getting to see lahm, podolski, klose, and schweinsteiger (sp?) on a very regular basis), and yes i do admire them, and i have to say again, it is not the germans fault, as they didn't choose for san marino to be in their group, and all they can do is go thrash them when they are presented, which is what germany has done.

they are definitely one of the favorites, just not sure if i put them ahead of france and maybe italy (though with totti and nesta gone for good, and del piero and inzaghi and some other mainstays aging by the minute, italy, who for full disclosure purposes, i root for, is behind germany and france right now in my eye, though still up there, as italy won the world cup with a 70% fit totti, del piero and inzaghi in bit parts, and nesta hurt for most of the tournament, so those big names aren't as detrimental as they might sound at first).
plus portugal seems to have righted the ship, and they have talent, same with the netherlands. england is a lost cause for qualifying i believe, but assuming they do and are healthy, they will finally make some noise, but i just don't know if they will make it.

but right now, i would say
france
germany
italy/portugal

holland

then england, spain, etc.

spaces indicating a noticeable gap in percentages in my mind. granted, the two teams i have seen the least of are germany and holland, plus i want seedorf back in the dutch team (though i know from johan neeskens and others why that is not a good idea in their opinion given the system and the personnel and seedorf's strengths and weaknesses, and even for milan i would rather the players skip international duty in a way, but i still want to see him recalled, so admittedly i irrationally judge holland a little harsher than i should :o), but that is how i see it, this of course is fluid, up or down, and as i said, i will probably gain some more information on german players this year than in the past (at least ones who don't play in the big 3), so i might actually have an informed opinion about them, lol :D

cheers

haha i doubt you'll see too much of podolski as klose and toni are forming a very good partnership already with toni further and klose behind him on the field. Although the irony is that klose and podolski have a near telepathic partnership for germany.

anyway, nice isn't it, the two best forwards of arguably the 2 best countries in the world playing together? Just need henry now.

if you want to learn more about the german team, go to the france forum (yeah, the france one not hte germany one), and i've opened a thread which is very originally called "euro 2008", and in there i've talked about german players and younger players around the NT. Also info on france in that thread (duh).
