Does anyone know where to find/buy tickets to the games against Catalonia and Switzerland.
My wife and I are booked and ticketed for Sweden and hoping for a second "European Vacation" this year.
Thanks,
James.

Tickets for the US matches can most likely be found here: http://www.ussoccer.com/
While they don't have the info just yet on Switzerland, I wouldn't panic as you should be able to a few.

Most "away" international matches you end up having to go to a foreign language version of ticketmaster. For example, for the Sweden game, you had to buy from ticnet.se. Even though they have an "English" version of the site, it was still not 100% clear and I had to spend time with a Swede on an international call to make sure I was selecting "will call" because there was no direct translation on the "English" version.

Sweet!!! I just realized that the Catalonia match falls on the last day of my previously planned trip to Barcelona. Woo-hoo!!!
I'll post here if/when I figure out how to buy tickets. Although they don't even have a game time posted yet, so I'm sure it won't be for a while. Hopefully it will be a double header with a la liga game!

It will almost certainly not be a doubleheader with a La Liga game as the 14th is a FIFA international date.

Indeed - FC Barcelona schedule is out and though subject to change... they are not playing on the same date.

I'm gonna be at the Switzerland match. As luck would have it I'm gonna be on vacation in CH. that week! I did some poking around on the Swiss Federation's website (www.football.ch), and even though they still don't know what venue that match will be held, it looks like it will be very easy to get tickets. They use this web site for for internet sales: www.ticketcorner.com. The site is very english friendly and it appears that they will even let you print the tickets at home. If anyone is considering going, October is a very cheaper time to visit pricey-Switzerland, as the tourist season is winding down. Also, If anyone is considering doing both matches, there is a direct overnight train between Barcelona and Geneva.

I saw the US play Scotland is Glasgow in '05 and there was no reserved US section there at all. I emailed US soccer a head of time but they said they have no section for away friendlies and I just had to buy gen admin. I think thats pretty standard that you will just have the by through the other teams federation. I had called the Scottish FA on the phone about the tickets and they led me to believe there was a section that might have a bigger grouping of US fans, but when I got there it wasn't very big. But aside from the mild booing of the US anthem it worked out well...........

FYI, for any of you going: The US and/or it's national anthem routinely gets booed in foreign countries. Just gotta deal with it.
I haven't spent much time working this trip out, but I plan to go to both games if I can.

Cool! As Basel borders Germany and France, it is a major tranportation hub; both air and train. The main airport and rail staion are jointly run by all three countries. Info about th stadium can be found here:

Ever been there? Plan is to arrive in Basel on the 16th, and then head to London on either the 18th or 19th.
I've never been to Switzerland, but at first glance, Basel looks like somewhat of an ordinary town. I figure we'll do some footy watching on the 17th in addition to the US match as there will be Euro quallies being played then, but is it worth staying there for another full day and night?

I've been to Switzerland on vacation three times; it's one of my favorite places. Last time I was in Basel was about ten years ago; it's a convention city-it is pretty ordinary. And here is the bad news: There is a big Timber convention in the city on the day of the match :( Almost all hotels in Basel are sold-out.
But, It's possible the rooms are simply being "held" for the convention and more rooms may open up at a later date. The closest city to Basel is the capital Bern; an hour away by train. Problem is, that the last inter-city trains out of Basel are around 11pm so it may be difficult to get from the stadium after the match to the main train station in time for the last trains. Apart from a nice Zoo and botanical gardens, there isn't much to do in Basel. I plan on heading to the Interlaken and the Alps the next day. Easyjet flies from Basel to both London Luton and Stansted Airports. The earlier you book the flight, the cheaper the fare will be.

I did a little bit more poking around, and found a good deal on a hotel near the train station. Check out Hotel Steinenschanze. Expedia has rates starting at $108.00 USD. This looks like a pretty good deal for pricey Switzerland.

For those traveling to Basel, Downtown Switzerland (http://www.zuerich.com/en/welcome.cfm) is only one hour away. :D
Why stay in Basel when you can stay in Zurich?

While I agree that Zurich is a bit nicer than Basel, the last train to Zurich leaves at midnight . As the match will end around 11pm, it will be tough making that connection.
