Surprisingly, after my time in Holland (7 days in 2006) I can understand the important parts ;)
You were in Holland? How did you like it? Did you eat some Vla ?
I am a bit of an "ugly-german" when I am in Holland.
Everytime I go to Holland I learn some dutch and take a dictonary with me because I want to use some dutch words, but the minute I cross the border all my good intentions are forgotten and I just speak german with them.
:D Which they hate because we just assume that they all speak german.
But d*mn they do all speak german. And not only that, their german also tends to be far superior to my english. So why should I make an ass out of myself and show them how truly awful the german education system really is.
The first time I actually used some of the dutch words I learned was back in germany when a dutch team played at the stadium where I used to work.
:D and you won`t believe how suprised they were that there are actually germans that know some phrases in dutch.
And then they complained that most germans didn`t bother with learning dutch and just assume that every dutch speaks german (and yes they did complain on german). To which I said nothing and just smiled and nodded.

well back to the FC
Aside from Pezzoni we didn`t get any new players in the winter break.
We nearly bought Thomas Buffel who is a belgian NT player who plays at Glasgow. But Glasgows decided to keep him when one of their planned transfer didn`t work out.
It still looks like he is coming in the summer as a replacement for Helmes
I think it is ok that we got just one new player, since our winter transfers tend to suck . The team is strong enough to make it and now we have more money for the summer transfer window.
And once we got promoted we can look for some bigger names for our team
:D
We played pretty weak against St.Pauli but still got a point which is pretty much considering that it was carnival :) also Pauli are our fan-friends so i don`t mind sharing with them.
However Aachen is not our fan-friend but our local rival and we already lost the first game (0:1) against them
So I expect some ass kicking and my prediction is:
Aachen 0 : 3 Köln (Nova, Helmes, Mohammad)

I was hoping we'd add a central midfielder, but maybe after we get promoted we can add Yank Michael Bradley.
I like your prediction and will concur, but I think Nova gets 2, Helmes 1.

Holland - I love Holland. Been there a few times. Saw Feyenoord crush Sparta, saw PSV go to sleep with Lyon, and skipped Ajax v Inter.
The Dutch - they are smart, I think they all speak 9 languages or they get kicked out of the country.

Holland - I love Holland. .
pssss Not so loud, ;) you are still on the german section here. Too man nice words about the dutch will get you banned.
I like Holland too. And you can only admire Ajax for their great youth system
And I love to hate the dutch NT :D because football without rivalries like that would only be half the fun.
The Dutch - they are smart, I think they all speak 9 languages or they get kicked out of the country.
Unlike us they don`t dubb foreign movies and shows. That way they pick up a lot of languages. The swedes and other scandinavian countries are the same. Makes me wish we wouldn`t dubb movies and shows either.
Also when you speak a language that is pretty common you tend to get lazy.
which is a shame because every language has it´s own beauty.
I was hoping we'd add a central midfielder, but maybe after we get promoted we can add Yank Michael Bradley.
I would like to see Bradley aswell. But after I heard we were interested I checked out his thread at the US_board and he got quite a few clubs interested in him. Mostly Premiere Clubs and right now the PL is so overblown
with money. I really doubt we have any chance to get him.
I still think he would have a better chance to develop here with us since we are quite good at developing young players.
But the PL club will propably pay twice of what we do also their is the language barrier he has to face when he comes to us.
still *sigh* a real central/attacking midfielder I think we hadn`t had one since Munteanu.

Bradley - yeah, if he goes to the EPL he's a giant fool. I think he has a European agent, so if that's the case the guy will probably look at Germany first.

Holland - yeah, I love Germany too. Plus the Germans have the best cars.

Languages - I want to learn German. With my move I hope I'll be able to pick up some as they have a lot of German speakers in the area.

Yeah he would propably rot in one of those reserve teams. With us he would be important from the beginning.
And part of me is still hopeful. We do still have a good reputation.
If it weren`t for those stupid UEFA laws we would have gotten Jovitec last year.

Where do you plan to move?
German is a rather difficult language to learn.
I still haven`t completely mastered it. :D
But then languages are never easy to learn. What you need most is stamina.
At one point it makes "click" and things start to make sense to you.
At least it was that way for me. It took me 5 years in school till it finally
made "click" for me with english and i was able to turn my permanent F into a C.
With latin and spanish I never really made it to the "click" point so I have mostly forgotten what i have once learned.

Jovitec?
Yeah, if he goes to Fulham I'll have to bomb a part of London. The sad part is they are only looking for a payday, and eventually they seem to crash and burn if they aren't complete players. EPL is not a great league, but that's why I'm here.

HAH! I want my next car to be an Audi or if I get lucky or older and rich - Mercedes Benz.

When I was in Germany last April I learned a few words, then back in Zurich in November a few more. I think if I was exposed to it for a longer time and had someone to work with me I could be passable.
Well long drive today, about 700 miles. I need sleep.
You should too.:D

We took lead. Helmes scored a goal after a great assist by Vuce.
But then Aachen got a rather doubtful penalty and equalized.
At the beginning of the second half Aachen scored and our team had problems to get back into the game.
Aachen scored again and it took us till the 89 minute to get back into he game.
By then it was to late.
Oh and we got our first penalty this season.
 of course we got it after Nova already scored, so even though we
got a penalty they still managed to take us to a disadvantage.

With 17 years Jovetic was already a regular and had already played for his NT. He is a big talent
Last year he wanted to join us and already viewed a game in the stadium.
However the UEFA doesn`t allow transfers of not EU players until they are 18.

Now he has signed a new contract with his old club.
HAH! I want my next car to be an Audi or if I get lucky or older and rich - Mercedes Benz.
Did the Dutch ever make cars?
well they used to make DÖF´s.
I think they resurected Spyker a couple of years ago. At least they now have a Spyker F1 team
Audi is better than Mercedes anyway. And I am not saying that because Audi is my favorite brand
or you could buy american and support köln and buy a Ford.
I actually know people who bought a Ford just because they used to be
the main sponsor of the FC. Then Ford dropped the FC and they stopped
buying Ford.
;) No wonder Ford has financial troubles. Think of all the customers they lost
when they dropped the FC.

Erm, we are "so young", because the merger was back in 1948 and at some point in time this date was taken as our foundation date. As you see in this carnevals medal we already celebrated our 60th anniversary in 1961 http://www.geissbock-archiv.de/orden/1961K.jpg

With the foundation of the Bundesliga the new foundation date of Köln was dated back to 13. Feb 1948.
A merger or renaming a club is still something legal as long as the history stays intact. A good example is Red *puke* Salzburg. The canned bulls took over Austria Salzburg, gave the team a new name and change pretty much everything else, they even attempted to change the foundation date and treated players who stayed with the team as new players (on their website it said: Last Club - Austria Salzburg). They had to revert this, because denying the history meant they just founded a new club which also would have meant they had to start over in the lowest division... That's where the real Austria Salzburg started over now, because the license was still with Red Puke Salzburg.
So, now there are two teams founded in 1933, with the same history and hopefully playing soon enough in the same division. Go go real Austria !!
So with the new Bundesliga there was no penalty for Köln to change their foundation date.

Agree. Just take a look at my local team, which was renamed to "SpVgg Greuther Fürth" after the merger between the traditional SpVgg Fürth (3 times German champ) and the village club TSV Vestenbergsgreuth ... but keeps alive all traditions of the old SpVgg.
