never heard of them either.About the Honeydogs album (from their "label" website at United Musicians):
The Honeydogs' wry sincerity and casually brilliant songcraft have made them critics' favorites and local legends in the Twin Cities. Their new album--10,000 Years--is an ambitious, sweeping epic; part "Brave New World," part "Three Penny Opera," part “Sgt. Pepper” and part “Pleased To Meet Me.”

Whether you are hooked by its Beatlesque pop melodies or its lyrical cinematic scope, 10,000 Years will hook you nonetheless.

“I love The Honeydogs. Lyrics that display a social conscience, melodies I wish I had written and really interesting arrangements. And now here’s 10,000 Years. I love this record. Great Pop songs. Everyone should own this. It's like television...or paper.”
Michael Penn

“I've been playing their new record every day since I first heard it. It's a concept with great melodies and great lyrics and wonderful performances. A truly unique project but with classic pop songs...oh, if every rock opera could be this well-conceived.”
Aimee Mann

There's plenty of bands I feel that way about. It all just comes down to personal tastes.

Yeah, but sometimes those kind of bands end up sounding really good after a while, even after not listening to them. The Shins are a good example for me. I listened to Chutes Too Narrow once all the way through, didnt think it was anything great, shelved it for about a month, until i got one of their songs stuck in my head for some reason, then i had to go and find that song (it ended up being "saint simon") , and now i think they're great and my mom wants me to tape my LP for her.

So. Yeah. as long as we're on the topic, I'm Listening to the Shins now.

Only in the cozy confines of my automobile can the Man in black, Pearl Jam and Jay Z Grey Album peacefully coexist in harmony

I've heard good things about those guys. A buddy of mine's band opened for them when they came to town once, but I wasn't able to make it to the show.

I highly reccomend it. I didn't think much of it at first, but there's so many really great things that they do that you latch on to. It's like a way more evolved version of standard punk music. Kinda. I dunno.
