I like the album cover posting. It makes it a little more dynamic.

I agree. Sometimes you can get a feel for a band by their album cover.

hmmm........ you like Mogwai Nico???? i've heard of them before but never heard them. what album can you recommend???

Dolemite,Nico reccomended to you Mogwai's worst album. Which is odd cause he's usually a smart guy. My favorite is Come on Die Young, but I'll point you towards their breakthrouh album, Young Team first.

My current listen is: (Bill Mallonee)
No kidding? Good guy. My brother played with him for a few years in VOL, and was on much/some of (I forget how many cuts):

Bill's a cool guy. One of my best friends used to room with one of the guys in his current band when he lived in Athens...and I've hung with them several times...as well as landing them a gig or two in town.

Small world. How's the current stuff? I picked up a VOL album or two after my brother left, but haven't heard any new songs in a long time.

Very different from the stuff your bro played on. He went kind of Brit-pop for a while, but is kind of in between his early stuff and the Brit-esque stuff. My favorite VOL albums were Slow Dark Train and Audible Sigh. That Perfumed Letter isn't my favorite thing he's put out, but its still good. I like his Locket Full of Moonlight the best out of his solo stuff.

Finished up my quick run through the Split Enz, and now moving onto an f'in classic:

He started the Brit-pop stuff on Summershine just as an FYI.

He started the Brit-pop stuff on Summershine just as an FYI.Thanks. Was that the last VOL? (it's the last one found on allmusic.com). Allmusic only lists Fetal Position and Perfumed Letter as solo releases (doesn't list Locket...), so you never know what they missed (they're usually great, but sometimes miss a few indy releases).

Yeah, Summershine is the last VOL. Check www.pastemusic.com they're an athens based website and they've actually put out a few of Bill's solo records, but they're also an online store for stuff put out by other labels. I forgot about Fetal Position, that's my favorite of his solo discs...its more Brit-poppy too.
