For some reason, I'm listening to a Nordic black metal band, 1349. I can't stand metal, but, for some reason, this stuff works kind of like white noise when I'm doing fairly menial stuff at work. I don't think I've ever heard a faster drummer.

Everytime I go music shopping I always forget to pick up some of Frank's more recent solo work.

DON'T!!! Except for a few songs, everything after "Teenager" sucks. Seriously. The Pixies are my favorite band, and I love the first two records, but starting with "The Cult of Ray," they're terrible. I have two or three of the later ones that I never listen to.

Thanks for the info. What about the Breeders, did they ever come out with an album after "Last Splash"?

I worked at my college's newspaper when FB's first album with the Cathoics came out. I wrote the most potentially offensive headline, but amazingly it got past the editors:
"Once a Pixie, Black Now a Catholic"

It is actually QUITE good. Not as good as Last Splash, but good nonetheless.
I would also reccomend Kim's side sproject to her side project, The Amps. They only put out one album.

Some guy from NYC named Mark Mullane that wants to play in our Union next fall, he's like a bad version of Howie Day. I'm not booking him.

Actually got that Amps album, and all this talk about the Kim Deal got me in the mood for some Kelley Deal.

That's not a bad record. Do you have BK's singles collection? It's, I think, their best record. The 3-song ep they recorded with Joan Jett ("New Radio") is one of the best punk records since the first wave of the stuff. It rocks like a mofo.

After listening to the Drugs Don't Work, I think I like Howie Day's version of The Drugs Don't Work a bit more than Ben Harper's. He's got more emotion and passion while singing the song.
If anyone wants me to send them an mp3 of howie days version, just pm me or message me on AIM.
