Just picked up a cd called "The Best of The Sessions at West 54th".

West 54th was a great music show on PBS that had all kinds of contemporary music. The host the first year escapes me, but John Hiatt hosted it the following years. I'll never forget the night John Prine appeared. Having John Hiatt and John Prine, two of Americas greatest songwriters IMHO talk music was priceless.

Anyway, the cd is great with appearances by Lou Reed, Ani Defranco, Natalie Merchant, David Byrne, John Hiatt, Sinead O'Connor, Shawn Colvin and quite a few more. Highly recommend it. I found it on the Columbia Music website.

"Sessions at West 54th" still comes on TV. It can be found on Trio. I think it's just old episodes, but I'm not really sure.

Man I have to get that CD! I used to love that show! They had such an eclectic mix of musicians on it. The last time I saw it was back in the spring of 2000 when they had on The Henry Rollins Band and Speech (formerly lead rapper for Arrested Development). It was a great show. It isn't on here in the NY-NJ area anymore though.

I buy most of my Cd's on the Columbia Music website and I stumbled on this one by accident.

The other performers are Elvis Costello with Burt Bacharach, Sheryl Crowe, The Mavericks, Ben Folds Five...etc

My favorites on that show were...
Reuben Blades
John Prine
Chris Isaac
Moby
John Hiatt

West 54th.....
truly a great music format
