How is this album?

I loved "Doppleganger" (their first one) and the collection of early singles and B-sides they put out. I saw them in 1993, too. But I really didn't care for their mid-90s stuff.

Really Good[tm].

I've only recently gotten into Curve because some friends of mine did a song with Toni Halliday on their last record, and haven't checked out "Doppelganger" yet, but I've heard "Gift" compared to it favorably several times. I don't care for their mid-90's work either - too much abrasion and screeching for the sake of screeching.

Anyway, there's some mellow stuff ("Hung Up", "Bleeding Heart"), some metal stuff ("Hell Above Water"; used to great advantage in the Spiderman trailer this summer), and a lot of catchy rock stuff ("Perish", "Gift"). If you want to download a couple of tracks to get the feel of the record, any of the songs I just named are standouts.

Check it out. "Horror Head" is the track you must have.

The band is dj? Acucrack, and the song is "So to Speak" off "Sorted". The video for that single has run a couple of times on MTV2 and Canada's MuchMusic, and MTV.com has it archived here (http://www.mtv.com/bands/az/dj_acucrack/260778/album.jhtml).

I'm digging "Horror Head" like a shovel. If the rest of that record is in the same vein, I'll buy "Doppelganger" immediately. :)

Hidden live track, "Police and Thieves" off of The Clash promo, Rocker's Galore. It's got Joey Ramone at the end singing a "Blitzkrieg Bop" outro, believe it or not.

How very f...ing timely.

Thanks for the reminder, Kelly...

"Naked Eyes" by Luscious Jackson. Had forgoten about this chestnut of mid '90s music until, for some reason on Monday, I was watching some bad Mathew Perry movie where the song was in the background of one of the scenes. I promptly downloaded it off of Kaaza and been in high rotation on Radio Quig the last week.

"Cold Comfort (Deepsky remix)" by Curve. I'm on a Curve kick thanks to Scotty. Can't seem to find the original on Kazaa, though. :(
