I know the Gold Cup is going on, but the rosters are being released for a bunch of the teams in the Copa America.
Let's just say that Argentina are bringing all the big boys (http://www.iht.com/articles/ap/2007/06/21/sports/LA-SPT-SOC-Argentina-Squad.php) to play and probably win this tournament.
Goalkeepers: Roberto Abbondanzieri (Getafe, Spain), Juan Pablo Carrizo (River Plate), Agustin Orion (San Lorenzo).
Defenders: Javier Zanetti (Inter, Italy), Roberto Ayala (Valencia, Spain), Gabriel Heinze (Manchester United, England), Gabriel Milito (Zaragoza, Spain), Daniel Diaz (Boca Juniors), Hugo Ibarra (Boca Juniors), Nicolas Burdisso (Inter, Italy).
Midfield: Luis Gonzalez (Porto, Portugal), Juan Roman Riquelme (Boca Juniors), Javier Mascherano (Liverpool, England), Esteban Cambiasso (Inter), Fernando Gago (Real Madrid, Spain), Juan Sebastian Veron (Estudiantes, Argentina), Pablo Aimar (Zaragoza, Spain).
Forwards: Lionel Messi (Barcelona, Spain), Hernan Crespo (Inter), Diego Milito (Zaragoza), Carlos Tevez (West Ham, England), Rodrigo Palacio (Boca).
USA hasn't released their roster yet, as of me typing this. Neither has Brazil nor Mexico, at least I can't find them. But I am still shaking in my boots from this Argentinian team.
How will the USA keep their game with Argentina competitive? It will be MLS Stars versus arguably the best team not to make the finals in WC 2006.

Good God, that midfield is loaded. I'll catch the Argentina game, but I'm away from TV for the month of July, but I mainly want to see us take on Argentina, so it's not too big a deal.

Goff (http://blog.washingtonpost.com/soccerinsider/) is reporting that DC United's Bobby Boswell and Ben Olsen will be on the Copa squad and that the rest of the team will be released later today.

I do not see a repeat of a US upset against Argentina like we did a few years back. I'm curious to see what formation they use. I think in their recent friendlies they went 4-3-3, but with those names in the midfield who do you sit out? Either way they will be a joy to watch.

I'm pretty sure this is what they'll go with:
----------------------Abbondanzieri----------------------
Zanetti-------------Ayala------Milito-----------Heinze
------------Cambiasso--------Mascherano---------------
Gonzalez---------------------------------------Riquelem--
---------------Tevez------------Messi/Crespo------------

Holy smokes they look good on paper - but let's not forget that they got awfully lucky vs Mexico in Germany when a clear penalty was not called for Mexicans.
I don't know who'll be called up for USA but am sure that to beat US they have to walk past young Bradley first:mad: .
Argies have a great team, no doubt.

USA cetainly not really trying to win this. Question is why are they going with this team. All kids and a few vets who certainly won't make the 2010 team:
Goalkeepers: Brad Guzan (Chivas USA), Kasey Keller (Borussia Moenchengladbach, Germany)
Defenders: Jonathan Bornstein (Chivas USA), Bobby Boswell (D.C.), Dan Califf (Aalborg BK, Denmark), Jimmy Conrad (Kansas City), Jay DeMerit (Watford, England), Drew Moor (Dallas), Heath Pearce (Nordsjaelland, Denmark), Marvell Wynne (Toronto)
Midfielders: Kyle Beckerman (Colorado), Ricardo Clark (Houston), Benny Feilhaber (Hamburg SV, Germany), Eddie Gaven (Columbus), Sacha Kljestan (Chivas USA), Justin Mapp (Chicago), Lee Nguyen (PSV Eindhoven, Netherlands), Ben Olsen (D.C.)
Forwards: Charlie Davies (Hammarby, Sweden), Herculez Gomez (Colorado), Eddie Johnson (Kansas City), Taylor Twellman (New England)

He's playing with the U-20's.
Wow, that team is even weaker than I originally suspected. We're gonna get rolled.

It'll be good experience for the youngsters. I hope they go in with a good spirit and not be overwhelmed. That way they'll get the most out of it.

Allways one for understatment is LB..:)
Question: I'm a little old school when it comes to the offside law and I saw Brazil score against Bolivia this morning.
It came from a Roberto Carlos free kick that was fumbled by the keeper out to the edge of the area. The shot back in was deemed a gooooooooal but Brazil has a guy standing in a 'clear' offside position, right in front and impeding the keeper, even sticks his foot out and may have gotten a piece of the ball as it went in.
Other than money as an answer, would someone clarify this desision for me.

How many of these kids will be around for the 2010 WC team?
Bornstein, Clark, I don't even know.

Here is Brazil's squad:
Goalkeepers: Helton (FC Porto), Doni (AS Roma)
Defenders: Alex Silva (Sao Paulo), Alex (PSV Eindhoven), Juan (Bayer Leverkusen), Naldo (Werder Bremen), Gilberto (Hertha Berlin), Maicon (Inter Milan), Daniel Alves (Sevilla), Kleber (Santos)
Midfielders: Josue (Sao Paulo), Diego (Werder Bremen), Elano (Shakhtar Donetsk), Mineiro (Hertha Berlin), Anderson (FC Porto), Fernando (Bordeaux), Gilberto Silva (Arsenal), Ze Roberto (Santos)
Forwards: Robinho (Real Madrid), Vagner Love (CSKA Moscow), Afonso (SC Herenveen), Fred (Lyon)
-----------------------------
I don't understand why the US wouldn't send their strongest side. What was the point in even entering? Mexico are sending just about the same squad to this tournament as they did to the Gold Cup. Even if the European based players wanted a rest (which they deserve) we should at least be sending all the best players from the MLS.

Wow...that squad is missing quite a few "key" players. No Dida, Lucio, Ronaldinho, Kaka, etc. Ze Roberto shouldn't be on that roster since he quit the NT though.
Guess Dunga is going to try to get some of the younger inexperienced players some time.
This is the line up I see them starting:
----------------------Helton---------------------------
Alves--------Juan-----------Naldo------------Gilberto
---------------------Gilberto (C)---------------------
Elano----------------Diego------------------Mineiro
-------------Fred---------------Robinho---------------

Yea the US really should have tried to send a squad as strong as possible. I mean, this is a great opportunity to show that they can compete in a more prestigious and serious competition.

I think Brazil advertised earlier that they were taking an U-23 side.

Well, it's a far cry from a U-23 squad that was named (what, maybe three players are under 23) and at least from here in Brasil I've never heard it advertized as such.
Dunga wanted everyone available, but some players (most notable Ronaldinho and Kaká) asked not to play so they can rest after not having much of a break last summer due to the World Cup.

Argentina named their roster:
GK: Abbondanzieri (Getafe-ESP);
DF: Zanetti (Inter-ITA), Ayala (Villarreal-ESP), Milito (Zaragoza-ESP), Heinze (Manchester United-ENG);
MF: Verón (Estudiantes), Mascherano (Liverpool-ENG), Cambiasso (Inter-ITA);
AMF: Riquelme (Villarreal-ESP);
FW: Messi (FC Barcelona-ESP); Crespo (Inter-ITA)
Something tells me Bradley's undefeated streak will come to an end shortly.
