Maybe this kid is that good. I can't say. I really don't know him.

He is a Romanian national team player and yes he is good, worth 8 mill? not sure, but a good player I know that

Marica to Stuttgart for 8 mio €

He's awesome, he's really been performing for the Romanian NT in qualifying. If he keeps his head straight he'll perform for you.

21 year old, NT and CL experiance, 4 year contract
Even if things don't work out we could be sure to get part of our money back.
Still he would be our most expansive transfer ever!

Of course maybe he is that good...

The Romanian papers talk about €11 mill.. as the third most expensive Romanian player after Mutu and Chivu..
Good luck to him in the BL

STUTTGART, Germany (AFP) - German international striker Mario Gomez declined a possible move to Italian giants Juventus on Mondya and extended his contract with German champions VfB Stuttgart till 2012.
The 22-year-old's 14 goals in 25 matches last term were a major factor in propelling Stuttgart to the Bundesliga crown and made him a much sought after player in the close season.
However the three-times capped striker - whose father is Spanish - opted to extend his present contract by another year.

I already love super Mario. If this is indeed true, this increases my respect and admiration for him. To reject offers from the big behemoths (especially the corrupt outfit from Torino) shows me he is not just a great player, he also has integrity, something difficult to find today in many stars.

Great comments, but if you think he's going to fulfill that contract extension, I think you have another thing coming.

The fact that he made it, I agree, shows a love for VfB. But it's also to make sure they get max money whenever he does decide to move, which will probably be during the period of this extension.

He's a very loyal man, that's true. There's a nice article on him on the DFB site where he talks about how hard it was leaving his first club and then Ulm.

Stuttgart apparently asked for years and he always said no until he lost 0:7 with Ulm against Stuttgart and knew that he had to move to develop properly.

Yea thats what I'm thinking too. Or he can do a Klose too. Now theres a person I thought was nearly infalliable.

You're probably correct. But, I still respect his decision to not jump for the cash just yet. It would be nice to see him stay. I'm not sure how much Stuttgart can afford to pay him, but anyone whose game is at Mario's level has to make a good salary.

Hey guys, just popping in quickly from my Transylvanian holliday!

Lots happened lately, my friends in Stuggi have been able to keep me informed on whats been going on in Stuttgart. My opinions:

On the new strikers, Ewerthon and Marica:
Nothing surprising, even before i left it looked about 75% certain that both of them would sign for VfB. Im glad that now they have and that our summer-transfer politics are now done and dusted and that we have got a ready team. Getting Ewerthon on loan is good because it means we dont have to pay for him straight away, we can let him prove himself first. Which i am pretty sure he will succeed in doing. Hes a good player and will certainly be able to challenge for the starting spots. As for Marica, he also seems to be a very bright star. I think we paid too much for him, but at this moment we ve got enough money to do so so its no tragedy. I think he too will turn out to be a very strong attacker. Gomez will still be a starter but now Cacau s spot is somewhat under threat. Its very reassuring to know that we've finally got real depth in our attack, something we haven't have in years.

On Gomez s contract extension:
Great news. Super Mario is a class guy. I agree he wont stay for the entire contract, but his prolonging it still shows he has heart for his club, something lacking in other German strikers, though i wont mention names (unless if by names, one means Klose and Kuranyi).

We played two friendlies: a 1-1 draw against Lazio with 9 injured players, very good result in my opinion, and a 0-0 versus Lautern.

Tonight is the Ligapokal haöbfinale, im gonna eat now then ill post on that later. But we will definitely be the underdogs in it.

R. Schäfer - Beck, Fernando Meira, Gledson, Boka - Meißner - Hilbert, A. Farnerud - da Silva - Cacau, Gomez

This is likely to be our line up tonight. Dont have much time now, im pissed i cant be there in the stadium, not used to missing home games...

The result is not too important, but if we can cause a surprise all the better. After what happened to Bremen, ill be pleased if we merely keep our pride against Bayern, and who knows, maybe we can spring an upset. That s all i have to say since i dont have time for more...

Well, we lost 2-0 which is nothing dramatic, we had mostly a b-team, they had a top side. And the Ligapokal doesn't really matter much anyway. I can't say more, i couldn't watch the game. I only saw a replay of the first goal, which was a nice shot by Ribery but was still saveable, and Schaefer may have misjudged the ball's flight pattern a bit. Oh well. As i said, doesn't really matter.

Tell me where you are/have been exactly. Did you maybe meet with Marica in order to clear last deatails of the contract? ;)

So I wonder why Bayern seem to need the good Ligapokal cash more than you ... if sportive aspects aren't important.

But to be honest, I'm not intersted in this competition either. Just watched the goals in the torrent - that was it.

They didn't have their whole "top side". What sucks is that their "B" team is a "top side" when compared to mostly every other BL club.

But yes, compared to what you guys played, they did play a "better" side.

I didn't think Ribery's shot was saveable at all. But I guess your saint Timo could get to everything......

I notice footyfans fieriness hasnt changed the last two weeks i ve been gone ;)

You know perfectly well that that comment had absolutely NOTHING to do with Timo Hildebrand, so you dont have to try and pretend that you thought it did. In my opinion the shot was clearly saveable, my noting this was not meant to be a personal attack on Schaefer but merely a comment on the only minute of the game that i have been able to see. And the comment would ve been made regardless who was in goal, be it Schaefer or Langer.

As for whether the shot was in fact saveable, well the commentator agreed with me, and i know that may not be much, just another opinion, but even Schaefer HIMSELF recognized in the post game press conference that there is a possibility that he could have saved it. And if he says so himself, well...

I went to Budapest for a few days, and since then ive been in the city of Targu Mures (Marosvasarhely in Hungarian). Mostly just visiting friends and family and partying. Been fun. Only downside is that i have no internet here, using someone else s right now, which i dont like to do, but thats no tragedy but ill be back in Stuttgart around mid-late August.

I know the two million would have been nice t have, but our side is being run very well financially, heard it is in the top twenty turnover in Europe now, so it is huge shame that we couldnt get this money. For me, what is more dissapointing is not the money, but the fact we lost at home to ScheissBayern. ;)
