He finally left, another Danish bust out. Good call for both parts. And I really doubt Stuttgart were paying him 4 million euro in salary per year. Mauwie's 1,5 sounds more accurate.
There are sources (http://www.bild.t-online.de/BTO/sport/aktuell/2006/05/10/tomasson-stuttgart-aerger/tomasson-stuttgart-aerger.html), that he earned 4 milions € before taxes.
He came from Milan and had a good name, when the contract was made.
Those transfers aren´t cheap, Toni earns 5 million € at Bayern, Frings at Bremen a bit less,
Bastürk at Stuttgart 3 million € (all numbers before taxes).
Such players cost high salaries, because they are interesting
for several clubs.
Anyways, it´s a relief and a chance for Stuttgart
to invest some money in new players.

I still think paying Yildray Basturk 3M per season is a f#cking bad joke......

Toni's 5 million salary is after taxes btw.
As long as Bastürk stays fit 9 million for three seasons is not a bad price. Like I stated a few weeks ago, a player like him would usually command a decent transfer fee (3-5 million).

Disagree. Maybe I'm just not down with the guy, but I don't see any way in holy hell that guy is worth 3M per season. Fit or not.
I don't see it at all. Especially at a club like Stuttgart that doesn't usually pay big salaries.
And this guy's salary will be problem if they don't make the CL again after this season.....

If I were, in this case, I would have suggested they stay "cheap!" LOL!! :D

I also have to strike something I said in my Basturk response to Hendrik. I have to be "down with the guy", because I wanted him in Dortmund at one point.
But not at 3M per. I'm sure that's why BVB didn't pursue him for long.
I do like the guy, but again, not for freakin' 3M per. I just don't think he's worth that.
For VfB's sake, I hope I'm wrong.

our teams are never cheap! They are worth the price or not. Working with cheap things is not the swabians way.

Let's face it. If you are playing Champions League you have to get used to this numbers.
And I do think he will fit into our team

Of course ask anyone who knows me, I happen to love the German Southwest, and would gladly relocate there for the rest of my military career.
Sadly, that's not the way it works...
Perhaps "cheap" is the wrong word, but I will say, I've witnessed friends walk nearly a km to avoid a 2-3 euro parking fee....lol.....I guess the parking spot wasn't "worth the price"....
I don't know how many VfB fans over in Germany know it, but Pardo and Osario on VfB has really energized the large Mexican population here in the States.
There is a dual Spanish/English language channel called "GolTV" here in the States, and they have had the Stuttgart/Cottbus championship clinching match on pretty much endless repeat for the last few months. It's on at least once per week. GolTV has the exclusive Bundesliga license here, and has made it a point since the signings of Pardo and Osario to show EVERY Stuttgart match....they then usually follow it up with whatever the next best matchup of the week is....So, lots of Bremen, Munich and a few Hamburg matches too....GolTV used to be the "All Bayern" network, now it's the "All VfB" network, and that couldn't make me happier....

Dude, "getting used to those numbers" is what got Dortmund in the financial situation we are in today.
It also helped get you guys in your pre-Magath financial situation too.
Overpaying for guys who weren't nearly worth what they got.
And read all the comments Hans. No one said he wouldn't fit into the team. He will help the team, but I don't think enough to justify 3M per season.
These are just opinions. No need to get offended.
That's what it seems you were just then.....

In the news:
We played Hoffenheim in a friendly match the other day.
Final score:
VfB 2 (Cacau, da Silva)
Hoffenheim 0
VfB Stuttgart: Schäfer - Beck, Meißner, Gledson, Boka - Gentner, Bastürk (46. Pischorn), da Silva - Hilbert (70. Mandjeck), Cacau (46. Fischer), Farnerud (70. Magnin)
Nothing incredible, but still a solid win i guess.
In some very bad news, Delpierre will need to be operated and probably is out until the end of August, meaning he'll miss the start of the season :(
Still no word on the strikers...

Also on the VfB page today: Mario Carevic will leave the club. The contract has been dissolved and he'll probably go to Belgium.
Another problem solved :D

Anyway guys, i'll be away in Hungary for the next 5 weeks or so (i hate to miss the Ligapokal and season-opening game :( ) so i won't be posting all the time, but i'll try and pop in a few times a week atleast.

And score he will. He'll also hit plenty of posts and crossbars. Just ignore those. He'll get you guys between 15-20 goals easily.
