Ouch! Thats a tough draw. Probably the toughest group I think in the CL.

This really sucks for me. I'm in stuttgart until the 22nd of September, meaning i'll be here during the first round of games. This means: i can't go to ANY VfB home games, and the away game that i could've gone to will take place on the only date when i'm still in Stuttgart and not in the UK, so i can't go to that either. Sucks. :(

but most imporrtant is the group, i'd say we have a fair chance for second spot and a probably chance for third spot.

Looks like anything is possible between place 2 and 4. At any rate on paper I would rate the possibility for VfB making out of the group stage higher than for poor Schalke.

Is there a link to the fixture schedule for the group? I don't know if they can determine exact date/times but they typically have the general parts worked out, I'd think.

Damn, this is not what I wanted! If Stuttgart can get all the pieces together I like their chances for 2nd place.

For me personally it will be very exciting. There is the Mexicans vs Mexicans and the Mexico vs US connection. I like Celtic so, I'm hoping Stuttgart and Barca tear the Rangers a new one.

In the ideal 11 who's partnering up with Super Mario? I think he and Pardo will be key. Why couldn't Timo stay one more year.....

Good that Stuttgart isn't struggling right now :rolleyes:

CL is always a different thing than the business as usual in the own league, therefore I'd be quite reluctant in writing off teams like Lyon

Yea Liverpool finished 4th and so did Milan as well....they were certainly crap in the CL.

I don't believe Lyon have ever faced Stuttgart before, though we have good memories of Bayern and Werder. :)

As scared as I am about this group (because I consider Lyon, Stuttgart, and to a lesser extent, Rangers, near the same level), the games will be exciting as each club practices a different kind of football. Stuttgart was the club I was cheering for in the Bundesliga, so I'm looking forward to the games between our respective clubs.

I wouldn't write Lyon off either. For some reason I can't understand, everyone thinks Lyon are doing poorly in the league when in reality they are a game behind, and in five games lost only two, which is understandable given the circumstances. Their injury list is big right now, but other than Cris and Coupet, everyone else will be healthy in time for the CL, so don't worry, we'll bring all the kids to the party!

Of course nothing is certain, but our boys should be able to deal with Rangers, and may be able to deal with Lyon...

Very tough group. I think we should be happy if we'd reach third place. But last year we'd have been happy if we had reached an UEFA-Cup spot in the Bundesliga, so who knows what will happen. I definitely hope that we'll advance into the second round and I think that it's possible...bring 'em on.
