My player ratings for the Duisburg game:

Raphael Schaefer: Didn't have to do much in the first half, in the second made a couple of important stops and held the clean sheet. My rating: 2.5
Kicker Rating: 2(Avg. 2.67)

Ludovic Magnin: Did solidly in defense and didn't commit any major mistakes. Was invisible going forward. My rating: 3.5
Kicker Rating: 4(Avg. 4)

Fernando Meira: Made a few errors and had some uncertain situations, but nothing dramatic. Overall, no goals were let in so you can't rate the central defender too harshly. My rating: 3.5
Kicker Rating: 4(Avg. 4)

Serdar Tasci: Was the better of the defenders, showed a good performance in my opinion and committed no serious errors. My rating: 3
Kicker Rating: 3.5(Avg. 3.83)

Ricardo Osorio: Had a solid start in his return from injury, and defended well besides a couple of lapses. But he more than made up for those with his brilliant assist to Gomez's goal. My rating: 3
Kicker Rating: 2.5(Avg. 2.5)

Pavel Pardo: Came close with a nice freekick but that was about it. His distribution was reliable as always if not brilliant in this game. My rating: 3.5
Kicker Rating: 3(Avg. 3.17)

Roberto Hilbert: Very present, with many nice moves and many mistakes. He would have scored on Saturday if Gomez didn't block his header on the goal line. My rating: 3
Kicker Rating: 2.5(Avg. 2.83)

Thomas Hitzlsperger: Played an ok game, but really didn't do enough to satisfy me. I still think he isn't near enough to the form of last Spring. My rating: 4
Kicker Rating: 3.5(Avg. 3.5)

Alexander Farnerud: Had one brilliant pass to set up Marica but besides that didn't do much. I still prefer him at the moment to da Silva though. My rating: 3.5
Kicker Rating: 4(Avg. 4)

Mario Gomez: Wasn't in top shape yet and made quite a few errors. He also prevented Marica from scoring early on and blocked Hilbert's header on the line....BUT it's all ok because i guess he just really wanted to score the winner himself :) . My rating: 3
Kicker Rating: 3.5(Avg. 3.5)

Ciprian Marica: Was unlucky not to get his first goal. I think he moved around quite well and obviously has a lot of potential. But no goals yet, so when Cacau returns i could imagine Marica moving back to the bench for now. But the kid has potential. My rating: 3.5
Kicker Rating: 3.5(Avg. 3.83)

SUBS:
Silvio Meissner: I thought it was a mistake to bring him in and make us more defensive and i don't see much use for Silvio anyway. He's been a loyal VfB servant over the years, but i don't think he really helps the team nowadays the few times he gets to play. My rating: 4
Kicker Rating: 3.5(Avg. 3.5)

Ewerthon and da Silva didn't play long enough to get rated.

My mind will be taken off temporarily from the upcoming derby tomorrow when the uefa Champions League draw takes place. What would the fellow VfB fans wish to have?

My preference would be:
A huge star from pot 1, one of the weaker pot 2 teams that would be easy to beat, and a poor 4th pot side.

Don't wanna mention teams, i looked through the pots and it would be impossible for me to name a favourite group, but i guess tomorrow we will see how easy/hard we will have it in the CL.

I would pretty much have to agree with everything you said. In addition, I'm hoping for that "big" team to be from England as that will increase the chances of me seeing the game live on tv here in America. Plus, wouldn't it be great to get a chance to knock Man Utd down once again! :D

I don't think it makes that much of a difference. The pots are all quite even.
No English team this time would be good to see something different.

I hope VfB gets a group with AC Milan, PSV Eindhoven and Olympiakos. :D

I also hope for an English team - i'm moving to Sheffield in the UK to study in three weeks so if we could get Man U, Chelsea, Arsenal or Liverpool it would be great as i could then go to the game. I'm dreading not being able to see VfB any more, i've had a season-ticket for 8 years, and now i'm suddenly not gonna be in the stadium for more than 6-7 matches this season. :(

The draw's about to start...first they're giving off all the most valuable player awards though...

Halfway through the draw...

we definitely won't be in Group C (Real and Bremen) since there can't be two German teams in the same group. Out of the other 7, Groups D(Milan, Benfica) and G(Inter, PSV) would be the best for us imo. Groups E(Barca, Lyon) and F(Man U, Roma) are the ones i'd most like to avoid. But we're only halfway through, and there'll still be pot D after us, so i'm just excited to seeing who we get...

Great... we're gonna have it pretty ********ing hard.

Group E it is. We play Barca and Lyon. Well, i guess all the pot A sides are star teams so it didn't really matter which one we get. Getting Barca is quite cool i guess, we will get the chance to see some real stars playing in Stuttgart which should be awesome.

however, i really wanted a beatable Pot B side, and Lyon are gonna be incredibly tough to beat. We all know how bad German sides are against French teams, so this is a setback, but it's not impossible.

Now let's see who we get from pot D...

Oh man, I'm nervous about this. However, we can always pull a couple upsets and send one of these two tumbling out. By the way, how come we were in Pot C while Bremen got to be in pot B, even though we were the champs?

Rangers is the 4th team

Bremen earned more coefficient points in Europe in the last 5 years than we did, so they were rightfully higher ranked than we were.

Rangers is another tough team. I don't mind them too much. We were in the same group as them last time we were in the Champions league(we lost 2-1 away, won 1-0 at home), and we made it out of the group that time... Rangers even finished last that time even behind Panathinaikos. So i would rate us higher than them, though they will not be an easy opponent, especially in Scotland they should be very tough. But i remember how great their fans were last time they were in Stuttgart, really friendly bunch, so in that sense i'm happy to draw them, and of course it gives me an away game in the UK that i was hoping for.... gonna start looking for away tickets for the glasgow away game straight away :)

Overall we have it very tough, but it won't be impossible.

Our minimum goal should be to get third and move into the uefa cup, and i think we also have a fair chance of pulling through into the last 16, so i'm keeping my hopes up :)

If you guys get Barca early, I think you can steal one. They are having internal problems at the moment.

I think you guys can come out of that group. Just do what you are supposed to do against the others.
