Our transfer activity so far. I've heard Aogo is moving to HSV too. :(
Big mistake on his part. At least in my opinion......
When will we open an 08/09 thread?
I guess whenever one of you chooses to do it. Over here, I believe it is considered prep-time for the new season on July 1st.

Aogo isn't THAT good.
he won't see much starting time at HSV i'm afraid.

Eric, this is why I thought Aogo moving to HSV is a mistake. And I get the feeling deJong is about to accept their contract extension offer too.
Where is he going to eventually play??
Yes, I am a bit jealous because Dortmund wanted Aogo too, but at Dortmund, he would have stepped right in behind Sebastian Kehl and Tinga.
And as much as Kehl and Tinga both get injured, he would have seen lots of playing time with us. At HSV? I don't know. They have depth and don't be surprised if Jol enters the race for Michael Bradley too......
Sorry for the long response delay. I'd actually forgotten about it. :(

there's a better response.
Aogo obviously wants to play first division, but HSV is definately too big...Pitroipa is going there too, and that probably influenced his decision a lot but...Pitroipa actually has the skill to get a lot of playing time...I think he'll either be a big hit or miss over there...But i'd put my money on Pit to make an impact over Aogo anyday....Aogo should have moved to a team like Dortmund as Keith mentioned.
alright update
SC FREIBURG ARE GERMAN CHAMPIONS!!!
....
....our U19 team :D
defeating Wolfsburg today 0:2
it's really exciting i think to have our II team promoted to the regionalliga and now our U19 (who have always been amazing for the last few years) finally are actual German champs...This club might have a bright future, but we can only dream for now.
here is a pic of the boys celebrating in Wolfsburg

First team:

Here is a picture of the new players from left to right...
http://www.scfreiburg.com/images/spielszenen/start08_3
Julian Schuster, Midfield (VfB Stuttgart)
Tommy Bechmann, Forward (VfL Bochum)
Suat Türker, Forward (Kickers Offenbach)
Johannes Flum, Midfield...i think (SC Pfullendorf)
Duffner says that there is still a midfielder and goalkeeper to come.
One of these players could be Cedrik Makiadi from VfL Wolfsburg which would be a great signing.

According to "kicker", you guys have signed Moroccan international midfielder Yacine Abdessadki (pictured below) from French club Racing Strasbourg.
http://mediadb.kicker.de/news/1000/1020/1100/4000/artikel/593428/180x135_OVwROhJTNP.jpeg
According to French reports, the transfer fee was 600,000 Euros.
The story also says Abdessadki was Strasbourg's captain the past two seasons.
According to the story, you guys also beat some 7th or 8th division club 22-1.
Here's the story in German at kicker.de. (http://www.kicker.de/news/fussball/2bundesliga/startseite/artikel/380120/)

Just a thought but I think Freiburg has made some good buys this summer.
Tuerker can definitely score a lot of goals at 2. Liga level and should be very good at strengthening your attack, Bechmann has been a somewhat unlucky player imo but is still very capable if he's fit and on form. From time to time he can have some very good games, and is definitely strong for 2. Liga level.
As for Schuster, he's a good young prospect. Was subbed in twice for VfB in the Bundesliga this season and actually impressed me quite a bit. I think if you guys integrate him right he could become a very useful player.

i think that will be a great signing!
The signings that Dutt and Duffner have made so far seem very impressive...especially this year i think we can have a really strong team that can hopefully stay consistent enough to make it into the 1st bundesliga.
Finke never would make signings like this, so i see the team really improving in the next coming years..
Türker i hope can score maybe something around 14-15 goals this season.
Now i wonder who the goalkeeper will be....

yeah time to sign some defenders and a goalkeeper!

yes i think that Duffner said only a midfielder and a defender are still to come
i would hope we sign another defender soon but don't count on it

EDIT: According to transfermarkt.de we are linked with the following players.
Vangjeli Kristi : An Albanian defender, plays for Aris Thessaloniki in the Greek super league. Has 8 caps for Albanian national team.
Marius Popa: "Marius Popa, the third goalkeeper of the National Romanian Team at EURO is very offerted by several German teams.
17.05.2008 15.30 by George Filip read 23
After receiving an offert from Dinamo Bucharest's executive president, Cristian Borcea, Marius Popa, the third goalkeeper of the National Romanian Team at EURO will most probably go to Germany. Hansa Rostock, Offenbach and Freiburg have come with a concrete offert for the goalkeeper of Politehnica Timisoara - 250.000 Euro/year plus important bonuses for playing. This is the last year of contract with Timisoara for him and he refused to continue by rejecting the proposal made by Marian Iancu.
"Marius Popa is wanted in Germany by several teams which would offer an attractive salary. He is very likely to play in Germany in the next season", said Florin Manea his agent."
Alexander Farnerud: Swedish midfielder plays for VfB Stuttgart. 4 caps for Sweden and 1 goal. 19 games for Stuttgart last year and 1 goal.
Cédric Makiadi: Wolfsburg midfielder from Congo.
