For those of you who don't get SI (which I'm canceling because of their piss poor coverage of soccer) The Sons of Ben supporters in Philly received accolades as "Fans of the Week" in part I understand for the attention they received at a recent Red Bulls match that they attended. They have also been written up in a full page article in the europhile 4-4-2 mag.

Bryan76, you will recognize as a moderator on these pages, is a co founder and is mentioned in the SI award.

Maybe Bryan76 would let us take a look at their song sheets...:D

and to think that SI, FourFourTwo, the Guardian, Philadelphia Weekly, Atlantic City Press, etc (with plenty more in the works) approached Sons of Ben ... there was no solicitation whatsoever on our part to try and get our name/mission out there.

-EDIT-

actually, to toot our own horn here, i complied all the media coverage we've gotten to-date IN THIS THREAD (http://www.bigsoccer.com/forum/showthread.php?t=556539).

Nice work. I like the quote: "... sons-of-bitches so hardcore the team they support doesn’t even exist." Steven Wells [Phila Weekly: Apr 11-17]

The bar has been set. Imitation is highest form of flattery, and I think that Phoenix Rising needs set about flattering you. The leadership of our group seems good. There is no reason we can reach for this kind of press.

Awesome stuff!

First let me say that the "SOB's" are good people... Congrats to them and to Bryan for all the work he does to keep them going and spread their gospel!

I wish them all the best and that both "PH" cities get into MLS soon!

Thanks for the mention, actually Dill0n, the other expansion mod is a co-founder as well and the artist behind the logo. We have had a great time creating the Sons of Ben.

It takes time and effort to do what you guys are doing with Phoenix Rising and you guys have a growing presence and a partnership with Arizona Youth Soccer. I think your Galaxy trip coming up will be huge for you guys. When you start going to other cities to cheer for both teams (silly fantasy owners like me were conflicted) as well your own city, it shows favorably on how rabid your fan base will be. We have been very fortunate to be favored by the press.

The songs and stuff are easy as long as you have great people around you who are dedicated to chipping in and participating in everything they can. Keep up the passion and the dedication.
