Oh yeah, there's a big game coming up. Everyone is healthy for Canada except Greg Sutton who is still suffering from headaches. What a confident bunch though. They can't wait to face the U.S. It will be tough, and there's no doubt CONCACAF wants a U.S.-Mexico final. Why not? That's where the money is.
And there is little to prevent those suffering from paranoia fearing the Americans will get some extra help. On Monday for instance, the U.S. trained at a nearby first-rate facility while Canada was subjected to a 90-minute bus ride in order to train on a miserable patch of rock hard junk. Tuesday they were allowed to train where the Americans did.

The most attractive sounding yes, but honestly as long as Mexico is in the final CONCACAF will make money. Mexico will sell out any 70,000 stadium in a final, hell they can have a Mexico vs the Bahamas and it would be a guaranteed sell out.
Saw the highlights of U.S. vs Canada and i have to say it's painfull and sad to watch. Canada was robbed
i thought it was funny how all the Mexican fans were cheering for Canada lol. U.S. and Mexico definatly hate each other when it comes to soccer

Yeah, I am not surprise at all. I think everybody knows that CONCACAF wanted US-Mexico final for financial reasons since start of this tournament. But whatever, I hope U-20 Canada's team does well in the world cup. Hopefully they don't get robbed as well.
GO CANADA! :)

I agree the sponsors wanted a Mexico vs USA final, and concacaf, FIFA, and TV will end up making 4 times the money $$ than if any other team would be there. I am sure there are passionate Canada fans all over the world, but as a whole you guys prefer hockey. TV networks know that and they want ratings... so keep supporting your squad. I am a Mexico fan, but i loved what Canada had to offer in this cup. they are no longer a push over team (not that they ever were..but..). We need to make concacaf a power around the world.. ya'll better reconize:D

Yes, that must be it ... they timed it to perfection. Here's a transcript of the locker room meeting before the game.
Ref: "Okay, you guys do whatever you have to do to make it 2-1. You know, give the fans a thrill."
Gooch: "Can I knock someone over?"
Ref: "Can you not is the better question ... but enough about that. Anyway, I'll tell the 4th official to put four minutes of added time so with about ten seconds left - ten seconds I said, don't screw it up - ten seconds, Gooch, you head the ball to Atiba."
Hutchinson: "Wait. What if I get subbed out before, eh?"
Ref: "It's cool. I already talked to your boss."
Hutchinson: "Sweet."
Gooch: "Okay, so I head the ball to Atiba. Then do I get to knock someone over?"
Ref: "Save it for Bob. Now, Atiba, make sure you're just on the line ... maybe off side, maybe not. Really sneak up to it, you know?"
Hutchinson: "Uh-huh."
Ref: "Okay, then slide it by Keller and really go nuts. The whole place goes wild but then I blow the whistle. Most importantly though, after I wave the goal off, make sure the ENTIRE team starts yelling things at me they wouldn't scream at a drunk polar bear in heat. We'll call it offside and everyone's good to go for the final. Savvy?"
Hutchinson: "Sweet."
Gooch: "I'll get a yellow, right? I don't like finishing the game without a yellow."
Ref: "No Gooch, that's too obvious. Just tell everyone that the decision was mine and you don't know anything else about it."
Gooch: "Then I can knock someone down?"
Ref: "Save it for Borgetti ... that reminds me, I've got to talk to Pardo."

don't be silly. If the fix was in, the ref dos NOT add 4 mintes at the end of the game. 4 minutes was very very generous to Canada. You got a bad call, but you have to deal with that in soccer.

Wow, I remember being naive and now understanding how the world works.

LOL...I think you've had a little too much sun there down in California. I don't recall anyone in this thread saying the match was fixed. The title of the thread was "CONCACAF wanted US-Mexico Final", and why wouldn't they. Probably the two biggest fan supporters for the two top ranked teams in CONCACAF = maximum $$$$.
Next time before you write your next Shakespere (sp?) open your eyes to the real point of this thread. We obviously feel like crap because of a blown call but in no way does anyone in this thread say the match was fixed

The title of this thread is 'CONCACAF wanted US-mexico final' ... how does that not imply someone 'fixed' it?
And hey, I'm on your side - I think Canada got royally jobbed. I think the referee made an awful decision and extra time should have been played and Canada definitely would have had the advantage.
I just think it's funny when people think the fix is in under circumstances like that ... that's all.
I'm with you guys - I know it must feel awful to lose like that. I was jumping for joy when DaMarcus scored for the U.S. in the World Cup draw with Italy, but that got ruled off and I was gutted.
You take the good with the bad.
Peace my northern brothers!
