What's up with those guys? Now they sign a 33? yr old Honduran striker that topped out with a good showing in the Copa Oro. They say he's the answer for Beckham's crosses.
They just found their Hislop! Way to go drittsekks!

He's the temporary answer. Name me one striker in the Gold Cup tournament that looked more dangerous than him and scored goals on a consistant basis. They'll find their permanent answer after the season. For me....great signing

I've said it before and I'll say it again. the only thing that will make this season a complete success is if the galaxy go winless after Beckham's arrival, AND they miss the playoffs.

You'd be hard pressed to find one GK that had a better WC06 than Hislop. Don't you know that you are a shooting star...

If this turns out to be a crap signing, then it just goes to show that better scouting is needed in this league.

Let's think this through. Beckham's coming off a full European season, one which followed a World Cup summer. And his ankle is all screwed up. MLS has forced the Gals to play a grueling backloaded, road trip intensive schedule in the 2nd half to capatilize on Beck's arrival. You think FCD's Thur-Sun were bad....that Gals have a bunch of that. Plus the Superliga, plus several high profile exhibitions. And you KNOW that Beckham has to play in ALL of them since teams around the league pulled the same extortion-esque ticket policy that FCD did. "If you want to see Beckham you have to buy tickets to these 11 other games". So Yallop won't even be able to give the poor guy a rest. Come September, Beckham is going to be exhausted and useless. Greatness.

They will be forced to sub him at half every game. If they are smart they will sub him in at the 60th minute. That keeps everyone at the game until he enters. He's very fit so I don't know if he can get to the useless stage without a major injury. This schedule is only new to us. He's been playing in the EPL and SPL his entire career. They have insane schedules unlike our 30 game avg.

But he's been playing for the last 9 months, save the injury. As we've seen multiple times with Euros that come to MLS in the summer without a break....they have a hard time keeping it going into September. And they don't have to face the schedule he is going to, nor will they have to deal with all the non-game related BS that Becks is going to. Appearances and interviews at every stop on the "tour".

Becks said himself that he was very fit because of his time with the practice team. Rember he had about two months off because of Cappello throwing him to the curb.

before that probably; all LA cares about is having him there. they'll just have him dress in that Beckham way, walk out on the field, wave to the fans and then proceed to the owner's box.
