View Full Version : B@W 06.21.07: First Day of Summer!
That's as much if not more the CR's call as it is the AR's.
When Canada first kicked the ball forward the player eventually called offside was just about level. The CR may have thought that the AR had him off at that point.
But the CR should have gone over to have a chat with the AR.
A real pattern of horrible ARs in this tourney.

I dunno, man. I feel not all that bad about that result. Soccer's like that. Tough calls and I understand CAN bitching, but the bottomline is that we move on. And I'm ok with that. Wasn't like we cheated or anything. Just a bad call on a pretty tough call for the AR/CR.

No way. Your job in the center is to make the determination of all of the circumstances surrounding the offside and overrule the AR when he's clearly wrong. The CR totally blew that.
At that speed of play and in his position as CR, there is NO WAY that you overrule that call. That's the AR's call.
I wouldn't overrule that at U-16s, much less in an international level game.

Smokin save by Guzan, rebound (which he could do nothing about preventing) just past the other attacker. I like Guzan as a young keeper.
Dynamo fans miked a bit. The ones that traveled to DC sat in the 300s behind where Benedict and I sat, they did a kick ass job.
I don't care how often it DOES happen. It's what SHOULD happen. That's his job. The AR shouldn't have raised his flag, but the CR has ultimate responsibility to blow the whistle or not.
If you blindly trust your ARs, that's just lazy reffing.
Amen.

Yeah maybe we should learn to score the 3rd goal.

Wait wait wait. Wasn't the CR blowing the whistle before the shot?

Well, that's something we can all agree on. :D
CHV-HOU 5': Mullen puts it in from 18. CHV 0-1 HOU

Agreed with the CR interpretation....but if he blew the whistle before the goal, it has to come back.

Nothing Guzan could do about that. Talk about taking advantage of your breaks.
In other news, Ducks re-sign Jiggy for 4 years.

Do I need to do tags for this game? If so, please accept my apologies.
Going to catch up on the Troop stuff.

The Cuban AR in the first of what I think was the GUA game was the worst. Took 3 very solid breakaway opportunities away from us. And that's a conservative estimate of how many he screwed up in that half.

Don't have to I guess, but i'm not sure anyone cares that much about it. Still working the aftermath of the US game.
Jesus my legs are dead today. I have no idea how I'm gonna do back-to-back 100-mile days. I mean, I know I can do it, but it's gonna ********in' hurt.
That reminds me... Barb, Dig, I'm riding through your town in three weeks.

Especially against a grinding team like CAN. Like I said, that's a lot like we were in the early-, mid-90s... We didn't look dangerous, but we wouldn't quit. If you let us hang around, we'd sneak a goal and make the final 15 minutes miserable.

Amen.
And I will always disagree. It's not lazy reffing to trust your AR if he/she is in position to make a call and makes one. If I'm the CR there, I'm going to blow the whistle every time on that.
I'm 15 yards behind the play and running to catch up, there is no way I'm going to disagree.
