Does anyone know what the attendance was for the Redskins game in Japan? Just curious for comparison's sake.

Interesting. To try to answer you, I checked the Sunday hard copy San Francisco Chronicle, the online version, and also espn.com and 49ers.com. None of these game reports list the attendance for Saturday's Niners ;) meaningless preseason exhibition. I wonder if the people who run the Osaka Dome never gave that info to the NFL reporters?
Apparently from watching, there were a lot of people dressed like empty seats. Like at a Quakes game...

Coach Superior has thrown down the gauntlet...NFL ball will become fun again, either for his enjoyment or at his expense. This lifelong Steelers fan hopes he wins most of 'em.

Cue "The Bottom Ten" column from years ago: Two lower-level college football teams (Rice and someone else) were playing in Japan, and The Bottom Ten said that both teams requested the final score be transmitted in Japanese. :D

Actually, Steve is exactly what thee NFL needs. I am glad that he ran up the score the first chance he got.

Agreed, if he can sustain it in the regular season. Somehow, I believe lining up five receivers most plays in a real NFL game is not a good way to keep a QB healthy when the stud pass rushers are coming at him every down. All the Skins' opponents this season will certainly be practicing lots of different blitzes out of nickel and dime packages, that's for sure.

There's an NFL game played in japan evey year, though it's all pre-season which it rightfully should be versus baseball who decided it would be a great idea to kick off the regular season in Japan. My god, is there anything those people do right?
It's really funny seeing the way the stadium crowds are different from over here. They have vendors that run around with Jack and other alchohal, they pass trash bags down the rows so people actually pick up their own trash (wow, that's such a crazy concept! ;)).

Right on, the Redskins will be a lot of fun to watch this year. Hopefully it will catch on with the rest of the league.
Obviously, being a Gator, I wish Coach Steve all the luck of the world in the NFL. May he run up the score every weekend! Until he mets the Bucs, of course.
Go Gatorskins!

Have you not been paying attention to what the Rams have been doing?

Having watched alot of Spurrier and the Gators in recent years, he very rarely uses five receivers.
And trust me, the NFL won't be the first team that tries to blitz the Fun 'N Gun. Anybody remember the 1996 Fiesta Bowl disaster against Nebraska where Danny Wuerffel nearly died? Spurrier cranked up his protection schemes after that game.
It might take him a little while to figure out the NFL, but once he does, I think the Skins will put up Rams-type numbers on offense.
GO GATORS!!!

Come on, College Football is fun to watch, the NFL isn't. I consider the Rams a fluke in today's NFL. They have a great offense because they have some of the most talented offensive players in the game. What Spurrier can show the League is that you don't need the best players to have a good offense.
Also, the reason why Spurrier, IMO, will instill more fun in the league is becuase of his attitude. Many games in the NFL are over by halftime, but redskins games won't be. He'll Run up the score, criticize his colleagues and still play a round of golf w/o caring what anyone thinks. That's what the NFL needs, attitude. Spurrier's got plenty of that.
Go Gators and Go Gatorskins!
Mike, you at UF right now?
