Soccer in all parts of the world is growing at a very fast rate.
I have been thinking for quite long and and asking my self why Europe takes more countries in the FIFA World cup . I have failed to ghet the answer. could it be that Football started in europe? can this be a justification for that? When some one says there is racism in football following this ground, obviously i will agree with him completely and also.
The other point is about African cup of nations.
What is the rationale for selecting only 16 teams for the whole competition? Can it be a strategy adopted by CAF to make the tournament competitive?
Please help me to answer these questions.

More European nations enter the competition, simple as that.

You're not very bright if you've failed to come up with an answer. The world cup is supposed to feature the best teams in the world. And Europe easily has half of the 32 best teams on the planet.

There needs to be a balance between equal representation and having the best teams. Europe has most of the better teams - especially in the top 10-15, so have more teams at the world cup.

I'm pretty sure all continental championships are 16 team finals, with prelim rounds to determine who makes it (Europe, Asia and Africa all are) the WC is the only 32 team comp.

Yep.
Additionally, Concacaf's Gold Cup and Conmebol's Copa America are both 12 team tournaments.
I don't think Oceania has a "continental" championship outside of WC Qualifying.

Here's a clue for you. Check out the results of games between European versus non-European teams in the last few WCs. You'll notice that overall Europe clearly outperforms the rotw despite having more finalists.

FIFA world rankings are crap. IMO Brazil, Argentina and Mexico obviously are in there, but also I would suggest the top teams of all confeds outside of OFC would be a chance at top 20, top 30 at least (Colombia, Paraguay, Uruguay, Ecuador, Chile, USA, Nigeria, Cameroon, Ivory Coast, Ghana, Australia, Japan, Sth Korea, Iran). I think the point is that Europe would get say 7 in the top ten, but after that it's a crapshoot for the next 30 spots.
Still, the spots they get are justified. I would like to see the spots decided by preformance at the previous world cup, say each confed get a spot for each top three group finish, then have the others shared equally.
