We the undersigned petition the Prime Minister to consider
awarding an Honour to Daniel Fergus "Danny" McGrain for
services to Association Football at domestic and international
level.
Despite being diagnosed with diabetes in 1974, in his prime,
there was no better full-back in world football than Daniel
Fergus McGrain. Danny played for Celtic in 657 games, scoring 8
goals.
He's a member of the Scotland Football Hall of Fame, having won
62 caps.
A colossus as captain of club and country, Danny was Scottish
Football Writers' Association Footballer of the Year 1977.
Trivia: In 1979 Albania barred Celtic Danny from entering the
country because he had a beard!
