Pretty strange that Spain never won a World Cup, and also pretty weird Chelsea and Arsenal have never been world champion...
Only European and South American teams! Will this ever change?

The problem is that chelsea and arsenal need to be european champions first. and bout spain that´s because thei league is such strong using foreigners players I believe.

The World Club Cup is pretty much treated with contempt by English clubs, its always dated in between the Christmas Peroid of the season (a Vital run of games in the English leagues) and is always situated at a venue for money (Japan). To compare it to World Cup wins is very illogical. The Spanish like the English have the tag of underachievers, the excuse both countries use for the amount of foreigners is a poor one as they were hardly setting the international stage alight when the majority of the domestic leagues consisted of home based players. Also the World Club Championship hadnt been created when the majority of English teams won the European cup, ie Aston Villa, Nottingham Forest etc

As was the World Cup until 1950 by the national team. England could have more World Cup titles.

Its predecessor was around - the Intercontinental Cup.
With that said Liverpool (1977) and Nottingham (1979) declined to play.

Trust me the World Club Cup is a nothing competition, the only reason clubs enter is for the money

Perhaps to Premiership teams (some would argue Spanish and Italian teams put more value on it) - but it means a lot in other regions of the world. Regardless, this is a tired discussion we have had many times and you can retrieve these threads full of drivel using the search function.

Was it not because Liverpool did not want to play in La Bombonera?
not sure thought i had read that somewhere

Considering only 3 times have clubs from outside of those two continents have been allowed to contest in a world club cup format its not that big of a surprise. I can definently seeing a mexican club winning it especially Pachuca but of course theyll have to get through AC Milan.
