Lille better get someone really good to replace Keita. One of the big English clubs even wanted him (I think it was Man U.).

Is he right-footed? From what I've seen of him, he's going to be the most exciting OL player to watch. Excellent signing.

He is right-footed, but seems fairly comfortable with his left foot also.

He's great when his batteries are turned on. He's also frustrating when they're turned off (a la Govou). Hopefully Perrin will get the best out of him.

the downside of this signing? considering he's going to miss more than a few matches for the CAN, he's pretty expensive per match!

Theu hired Columbian Luis Yanes from Santa Fé.

He's certainly going to be fun to watch. IMO, he's the type of player who can really help us in CL, with his ability to beat defenders 1-on-1 when the team game isn't working.

Keita was nonexistent in the last two games we played. He'd better put his act together.

Perrin complained about his nervousness today. If he isn't careful, he'll get red carded.

he's been pretty awesome in the CAN. is it the pressure of living up to his price tag thats inhibiting him?

It could be. There is a lot of stress to perform when you're the club's most expensive signing ever. But Keita apparently said in an interview recently that he'd be willing to move to a different club if his situation doesn't change at Lyon.

I think that would be a huge loss because he's a great player. We're only seeing glimpses of his talent at the CAN. He's capable of so much more. And if we're going to give Fred a gazillion chances, we should do the same for Keita.

...if we're going to give Fred a gazillion chances, we should do the same for Keita.i don't disagree. but AKK started the first 8 or so matches, and has appeared in all but a couple of matches. perrin gave him just about all the time he could, paying more attention to his potential than his performance until the good of the team just forced him to do otherwise.

taking him out of the lineup might have been a way to ease the pressure on him, but it didn't work. For once a club had to be happy to send a player to the CAN, this was the best thing that could have happened to kader keita and it was almost predictable.

and as selfish as it is, CIV getting schooled egypt may be the cherry on top: because now AKK has reasons to be both confident AND hungry!
